This mod reworks the background creation, changes the steps, and enhances the early game.
- The steps are now:
- Family
- Education received
- Favorite maxim
- Early adult life
- Reasons for adventuring
- You don't necessarily start as a soldier but can instead start as a merchant or farmer, with the corresponding equipment and amount of gold.
- A maxed-out skill yields more than 50 sad levels, as each step gives 20 to 50 levels per skill (a full swadian knight path gives 90 levels in polearm and 120 in riding, plus some in athletics and Two Handed for example).
- Starting in a noble family makes your clan level 2, while starting as a bandit gives you a crime rating.
- You can start at 16 years old, and the 20 year old option is now 21 to avoid the baby face.
- The age changes the skill level you get, starting at 16 will reduce it while starting at 50 will double it
- Each culture has unique choices, such as raider for Sturgia or caravaneer for Aserai.
This mod is most likely not compatible with other mods that change the background choices or add new playable cultures.
The early adult life options were made with my troop modality in mind, so the naming or the equipment/skill you get will be off for some cultures: noble sturgia is Inf 2H, no skirmisher option for Vlandia, etc.
Just unzip it in the modules folder. The archive is in 7z format, so there is no need to unlock the DLLs.
This mod needs a fresh new game to be used. (obviously)
