About this mod
A rework of all troops and kingdoms, inspired by the 9th century in western europe.
Centered around the former Frankish empire of Charlemagne, now divided in 3 kingdoms.

This mod is a rework of all troop trees, lords equipements, kingdoms and cultures inspired by european kingdoms during the 9th century.
This is freely inspired by the Carolingian Renaissance period but not meant to be historically accurate.
It's my personal fantasy of that time, made with the items available in the Open Source Armoury.
The new factions are :
- The Franks :
Replaces the 3 empire factions and inspired by the 3 kingdoms created after the Treaty of Verdun of 843.
Regular Troops : balanced infantry and archer, good shock infantry
Elite troops : heavy cavalry
- The Saxons :
Replaces Vlandia and inspired by Wessex and other anglo-saxon kingdoms.
Regular Troops : balanced cavalry, infantry and archer
Elite troops : heavy spearman
- The Picts :
Replaces Battania and inspired by the Picts, Scots and Irish kingdoms.
Regular Troops : balanced infantry, light cavalry, good skirmisher
Elite troops : elite archer
- The Avars :
Replaces the Khergits, a mixed faction of elite Avars (horsearchers from central Asia) and Slavic (incorporeted in the Avar's army).
Regular Troops : balanced infantry, light cavalry, spear equiped archer
Elite troops : horse archer
- The Norsemen :
Replaces Sturgia and inspired by vikings.
Regular Troops : balanced infantry, cavalry and archer, good shock infantry
Elite troops : heavy infantry
- The Moors :
Replaces the Aserai and inspired by the Caliphate of Cordoba and other muslim states in north africa, Sicily and hiberic peninsula.
Regular Troops : balanced infantry, cavalry and archer
Elite troops : mounted skirmisher
This was made only by editing XML/XSLT files.
It should be compatible with any mods that don't affect troop trees.
If you use RBM combat module make sure you disable the troop rework and download OSA patch for RBM (OSA download page)
If you only use the RBM AI module you don't have to add anything.
If you add this mod mid-game, troop trees should work fine but lords will keep their vanila equipement as they are set at the start of the game.
I recommend to start a new game.
Update v0.2 :
- changed some mercenary and minor faction's troops
- changed the names of all caravan, peasant and militia units to specifiy their new culture
- changed a lot of Frankish, Norse and Saxons lord's names to fit their new culture
You can update the mod with your current save, units should be edited proprely.
Saddly, lord's names won't, you need a new game to see these changes.
Update v0.3 :
- changed the names of all towns. I went for ficional names that match with the new cultures. I chosed latin-ish names for the Frankish empire, as it was the common language in a multi-cultural empire.
- changed th ruler of the Eastern Frankish Kingdom. Rhagatea is replaced by Carl, the third brother, as the frankish rule was to divide the kindgom/empire between all the male heirs.
You can update the mod with your current save, town's names will be applied properly.
The Eastern Frankish Kingdom ruler won't change tho, it will need a new game to be effective.
Open Source Armory is required
