Overview

This mod will check parts for the colors found in the paint. This will "scan" only the paint layer, and will ignore any rust, dirt, dust, etc. It will check to see how common a specific color is, and will display the hex color code for all colors that are more than 1% of the total paint layer. This currently will not scan parts attached to a car. You must remove parts before scanning them.

Compatibility

This mod currently uses the same method for displaying text as the WearInspector mod by FedesUy. You can have both installed, but will not be able to see the WearInspector text while holding the Colorimeter.

FAQ

Q - Where do I buy it?
A - You can purchase it from the wheel/part/tool shop near the garage. It should be floating next to the shelves. It will be moved in a future update.

Q - Why can't I scan a part attached to a car?
A - Currently the tool doesn't support scanning parts attached to cars. Please remove it from the car first before scanning.

Q - I see a difference between the a paint color I purchased, and what the tool is reporting, why?
A - This difference is due to some other aspect of the core game. The values provided by this tool are the raw hex values from the PNG data.

Q - Why does a part that I've painted all one color show two color codes?
A - This happens when using spray paint, as it only updates just the pixels used by the model mesh, while the full paint layer will still contain the original color. See the screenshots for an example showing a "red" hood that is still mostly grey in the PNG data.

Q - Why can't I scan a specific part?
A - I tried to get it to work with all painted parts, though it doesn't mean all can be scanned. Please let me know of any issues and I can try to fix them.

Q - Why does my FPS tank for a split second when scanning parts?
A - I've tried to optimize how the mod works, and it runs well on my hardware. I have a pretty good PC so it's hard to judge. Please report any performance issues you have, and I can try to take a look into them.
