Introduction

This article is divided into two sections.

The first is hints. If you're stuck, and you need another clue to help you out but you DON'T want to be told the answer, read the info in this section.
The second is the walkthrough. If you're REALLY stuck, and just want the answer, read this section.

Hints

First of all, before you read anything in here, make sure you've read ALL the notes carefully. The clues are all in there. If you still need help, check the sections below.

I need help with the...

Clean-up

Spoiler:
Show

Hacksaw's notes mentions that aside from his own tools (which are given to you with the notes), he also needs you to track down at least two other common items. You can find these anywhere you normally expect in the wasteland, or even buy them. They're pretty common.

Fuses
Spoiler:
Show

Head northwest from Springvale - towards the hill that vault 101 is buried in, and near where the overpass between Springvale/Bigtown is. Stand on the top of the hills, and look for power-lines. Follow them.

Water Valves
Spoiler:
Show

There's a sewer waystation not too far from Megaton. Check the inside thoroughly after taking care of the roaches and the scorpion - there may be another clue as to where you might find those valves.

Storage Containers
Spoiler:
Show

Hacksaw's pretty clear about where to find these in his note. Check the area thoroughly.

Bedframe/Refrigerator/Oven
Spoiler:
Show

All of these can be found in Springvale. Check each ruined house THOROUGHLY. They are ALL outside - you do NOT need to go into any buildings (like Silver's house) to find them!

Springvale School
Spoiler:
Show

Explore the school AND what's under it. Bring some lockpicks.

Medical Equipment
Spoiler:
Show

I recommend you pay the Doctor a visit next time you're near Big Town.

Furniture/Decoration/Collectible Stands/Follower bunk
Spoiler:
Show

Buy these at the Caravan Radio.
For the clutter/static decoration only, buying this does NOT automatically show the decoration. Exit the barter menu, and reactivate the radio. You should have an option to enable static decoration. You can switch this on or off whenever you like at the radio.
The bobblehead stand works pretty much exactly as you'd expect in the base game.
The snowglobes are a different story. This means you have to speak to Jane to sell the snowglobes to Mr. House. Once you have sold the snowglobes, and they become visible in the Lucky 38 Suite, then activate the snowglobe stand again, and it should update and display any snowglobes you've found. For DLC snowglobes, things work slightly differently. All you have to do is complete the DLC main quest, and then activate the snowglobe stand. Again, it should update and display the snowglobes for any DLC for which you have completed the main quest.

Lab Set
Spoiler:
Show

Some weirdo is messing around in Jury Street Station. Explore the station and tunnels thoroughly, and find the guy who...isn't like the others. He's doing something wacky science with molerats.

Hydroponic Garden
Spoiler:
Show

For seeds, go pay the Rivet City science lab a visit. Remember that TTW adds a small room just off from the science lab for hydroponics - explore it thoroughly!
For what to grow your plants in? Well, go pay Harold a visit, and watch your feet!

Infirmary/Dermal Sculptor
Spoiler:
Show

1.) Check out the Wheaton Armory. When you can get into the room with the goodies, look for a pointer towards the next location.
2.) The note pretty much tells you where to head next. Here's a hint: Remember that the hardware is still all crated up.
3.) That doctor sure does seem mad. Where does Bell work again?

Purification Module
Spoiler:
Show

Alright, this is the only item that doesn't actually have a hint of it's own. This is because, for obvious reasons both lore AND gameplay balance-wise, it's locked behind completing Fallout 3's main quest. At which point, purified water becomes MUCH more commonplace, so having it in your home becomes more convenience than game-breakingly overpowered.

The purification module is a miniaturized version of the tech your dad was working on. So go check our where Dad was. Besides, Bigsley's a busy man, he could use a hand!

Walkthrough

Clean-up
Spoiler:
Show

You need wonderglue, a sledgehammer, and Hacksaws Tools (which you already have)

Fuses
Spoiler:
Show

In the VAPL-58 Power station

Water Valves
Spoiler:
Show

Use the Sewer Waystation to gain access to the County Sewer Mainline (you can also enter from the grate near the Potomac, but this means you have to go through the whole mainline). Once you're in, find Gallo's hideout. There's a supply closet there, just near the tiny cross-path with all the traps. It has an average lock on the door. The valves are on top of the shelves.

Storage Containers
Spoiler:
Show

You're looking for Lockers. Undamaged ones. Check the very back of the Super Duper mart, one of the rooms has rows of empty, unused lockers.

Bedframe/Refrigerator/Oven
Spoiler:
Show

Exit Springvale garage through the garage doors. You should be facing Vault 101. Turn right - the house right next to the garage has a bedframe, half buried in rubble.
The fridge is in the porch of the mostly intact, but inaccessible house opposite Springvale school.
Now head back to the main crossroads of Springvale (the one with the megaton sign, near where you find the eyebot patrolling). Follow the road that leads to Vault 101. The oven is buried in the last house to your right (1st house on your left if you're heading INTO springvale from Vault 101).

Springvale School
Spoiler:
Show

Head into Springvale School basement. You need to break into the room with the ant in, which is behind a very hard locked door. The workbench is in the back left of this room.

Medical Equipment
Spoiler:
Show

Bigtown, Red's clinic, right next to the shelves.

Lab Set
Spoiler:
Show

Ryan Briggs's room, the one with the wonder-meat maker in. Look for the chemistry set and activate it.

Hydroponic Garden
Spoiler:
Show

Rivet City Hydroponics lab, on the table on the right of the room. You're looking for a small packet of seeds.
Soil can be found at Harold's feet in Oasis.

Infirmary/Dermal Sculptor
Spoiler:
Show

1.) Wheaton Armory location just gives you a holotape that gives you the next stage in the quest. You don't actually need to pick this up.
2.) Our Lady of Hope hospital. In a storage closet that's locked, with a Mr Handy inside.
3.) Robco Factory Mainframe, holotape on the table.

Purification Module
Spoiler:
Show

Bigsley's desk. (previously the reception of the Jefferson Gift shop area).

It's in the hydroponics room in the rivet city lab, the one that's tucked in behind a level transition door on the ground floor.

The fertile soil you're looking for, once you've got the seeds from Rivet City, is at Oasis. RIGHT at the feet of Herbert. The tree-man.

You gotta grab the broken radio off of the desk in the bedroom area and then take it over to the workbench in the back of the garage, my friend.

Loving this mod so far, but I'm bummed I went to the power station and didn't find any fuses. Are they in the Very Hard safe?!

Lol literally seconds after writing this I found them on the wall.

I think this mod provides one of the best player houses I've seen in these games.

But, I can't find anything in the hospital.  No locked closet with a Mr. handy inside.  My concern is that I did the hospital/hotel quest already, ages ago.  Long before I ran into this mod.  Is that going to mess up my getting this dermal sculptor thing?  Or am I just missing something?  If I'm missing something, can someone please just plain tell me "go to x place on the hospital's local map"?  Because I've now explored the whole place more than 7 times (I even checked the dry sewer area), and google, youtube, and reddit are not giving me answers.

Never mind my previous text. You probably found out already, you have to do the same as for the other garage enhancements... There is a place/tool used for all.

Have you taken that stuff to the work bench? Fuses and valves, well fuses go in the fusebox but you have to clean up the garage first. Valves go in the basement.

Workbench just opens the crafting menu, is there supposed to be a recipe present?

Yep. If you have all the prerequisites (hacksaws tools, sledgehammer, wonderglue) then you should have a recipe in the list that says "Springvale Garage Cleanup (4 hrs) or something like that. If you can't see it or if it's not shown as buildable, scroll down the list to see what you're missing.

In most cases, if you're not sure what to do with something, try taking it to the workbench. And yes, only the one in the garage will work, other workbenches won't show Springvale Garage recipes.

Ya I don't have any crafting recipes related to the garage, yes I'm using the one inside the garage, it has two safes underneath them.  I tried messing with my load order making this mod overwrite everything and it didn't add them. Does it require a fresh save? I turned off other mods and that didn't fix it either

In the quest log, for the Springvale Garage quest, what does the current objective say?

OK you're not far enough in the quest to do anything then.

Read ALL the entries and then the next stage of the quest should trigger.

You'll know if the game has detected them as read by the fact their entries in the pipboy reading list will turn dark after a few seconds.

Also if you're using a mod called "Misc Gamesetting Tweaks" make sure you have DISABLED the "No Note Greyout" option, since it seems to block the game from detecting whether a note is read (and it therefore breaks the function the mod uses to check if the player has read the note).

I may be stupid, but where are the notes? All I got is a locked garage and this Hacksaw guy chilling outside, and he has no notes or a key on him. What am I missing?

Grab his backpack first. It'll be near him, not on his body. Then head inside the garage.
