About this image
This is a screenshot of my current work-in-progress, energy weapon overheating. The mod looks at weapon weight, ammo type, and rate of fire, and calculates a thermal performance profile. The weapon's temperature is shown in degrees and graphically. On the graph, the shaded area represents the current weapon temperature, and the vertical red bars indicate the temperature at which the weapon overheats (probably meaning damage to the user). The system is automatically applied to any weapon that uses energy weapon ammo, so it'll work with mod-added weapons.

Interesting idea!
sounds interesting
*Edit - Though if you add the non-energy ammo to the formlist, that ammo will cause overheating too, for all weapons that use it.
Wow, I've always wanted some kind of catchall overheating mod. But how will this affect Gauss Rifles? And how hard would it be to add a custom ammo type to the list of energy weapon munitions? In that light, could it support some kind of plugin, or would it be easy enough for a weapon creator to add a compatibility patch?
Say there's a weapon that, for example, can fire ECP's or 10mm rounds; Will this affect it firing only the ECP's or the 10mm's as well?
like the idea very suited to plasma weapons esp in the warhammer 40K version. Where using a plasma weapon is, hold away from body, pray to emperor he dont want personal meeting with you, pull trigger. See enemy going to meeting with emperor, move on and continue until weapons machine spirit decieds its your turn to meet the emperor.
You make some hi-tech stuff, Imp. I look forward to this.
