It always kind of irritated me that the Vipers and Jackals got relegated to generic raiders. According to the lore, they are from the same vault that the Great Kahns originated from and like the Kahns, got pushed out of California by the expanding NCR. The Jackals are feral cannibals while the Vipers are some kind of snake worshiper cult. Yet in the vanilla game, neither of them have any sort of "tribal identity". They dress like settlers and mercenaries. They each have their own culture and society but their appearance doesn't reflect it. BORING!!!!!!

So... I decided to play around with various meshes and texture to see what I could come up with. Here we have a very basic Viper outfit. I figured they would be comparatively primitive and incorporate a snake theme but I did'n't want to go too "American Indian" since that was already done in Honest Hearts. They still need some gear and decoration and maybe some dirtying up to really make them pop but.....

    Hey Skyoholic, I hope I'm not being a bother. I was searching for some lore friendly tribal armors for the jackals and the vipers but have had no luck. I've stumbled on your image here and noticed that it was posted a couple years ago and that you are still fairly active around here. 

    I was just wondering if you ever planned on uploading these files or finishing this project? Judging by this image, these are hands down the best Viper outfits I have ever seen. I would love to be able to see them in game!

      My outfit images are just mash-ups that I put together in Nifskope. I honestly have no real idea how to put them into the game.

      Oh okay, that makes sense! Well, my statements still stands, best outfit I've seen and would love to see it in-game some day!

      According to the wiki, the Scorpions all wear merc cruiser outfits. So really... about the only thing needing to be done would be putting some sort of scorpion image or logo on the back of the jackets.

    I love this idea! The Vipers and Jackals always felt like off-brand Fiends and not at all interesting. This goes a long way towards giving them an actual identity.

    Very cool idea. I've also always been a little bothered about the jackals/vipers/scoripions being so "generic raider."

    Can't wait to see what else you have planned.

    Cool duds! If I may make a suggestion- perhaps some of them (priests?) could get nightstalker headdresses (as they're the closest thing in New Vegas to snakes)? According to the wiki, the Vipers also used bone armor as well as snakeskin. There's actually already a bone armor mod which you might want to look for for inspiration/use as a base (permissions are open).

      The bone armor mod is rather skimpy and sexualized and pretty impractical and useless as far as realistic protection goes. I'm thinking something more like these:

      A nightstalker cowl would be cool but is far beyond my ability. The best I could is maybe a snake skin hood.

    Ideas for the Vipers:
    - Vipers have pale skin & crude snake tattoos. (This is what they were said to look like in Fallout 1)
    - In Fallout Lore, the Vipers use armor & weapons made from bones. Maybe add bone pieces to the clothing?

    Ideas for the Jackals:
    - Mad Max Warboy-Style Gear.
    - Psycho-Style War Paint.

      Yeah... like I said, these are just very basic outfits. I want to add war paint, tattoos, primitive jewelry, small fetishes, bits of gear, and whatnot. Just haven't gotten to it just yet.
