About this image

Thought this might be a helpful tip given how common Banana Hair is, even in the vanilla game.

If you have a thing for blondes and want to add such a character in your mod (or for your courier) you'll find that using more neutral "Fleshy" colors for the Hair will create a much more natural looking blonde than Yellows.

Another thing I do is to zoom out the render window while editing faces because otherwise you get the fish eye lense effect, so if you've edited with a zoomed in view they don't look right in game.

Thank you! Even in the vanilla game, almost all blonde NPCs do not look naturally blonde. They look like they just dipped their hair in yellow paint. The only NPC in the game I think of with convincing blonde hair is Jack from the Boomer faction.

Arcade Gannon isn't bad either, but then you've got someone like Apprentice Watkins going Full-Banana.

Watkins, incidentally is like many npcs in New Vegas, having a face that's just a slight modification of the default, whereas Jack and Gannon had a lot more effort put in to him to make them look unique.

I have to imagine that in NV's hurried development, NPC faces (and hair color) didn't get as much attention as they could have.

Oh, definitely. Facial design was not high on the list of priorities for Obsidian when they were developing New Vegas (Along with a whole lot of voice clones). Many of the vanilla character designs feel like whoever designed their faces just pressed the generate button, went onto more pressing matters, and called it a day.
