About this image

Another shot from the High-Altitude Launch Site. Pretty sure I posted this one at some point back in 2019, but took it down for some reason.

I'm kind of stuck as to what to do with this mod, in all honesty. The original plan was to have the Courier and Terry take a rocket to some kind of abandoned space station, but I kept hitting roadblocks after the "go to space" bit. Problems included difficulties making it work in the GECK, and figuring out an actual reason to go up there in the first place. Given that the whole mod is centered around the premise of "fix rocket, go to space", taking it out would kind of defeat the purpose of the plot.

(No idea why I bothered to mention all that, just wondering if anyone can provide some brilliant insight that might help me figure out what to do with this thing. If not, whatever)

More serious route? Maybe it's a Chinese or Enclave space station sending a distress signal of some sort, offering some kind of hefty reward for anyone capable of space travel. Less serious route? The two robots from Midnight Special need help.

Well, seeing as a recent, highly anticipated mod went for "Enclave remnants in space" and more-or-less pissed off the whole community with it, I think it'd be best if the Enclave got left alone at this point.

Oh gawd I forgot about Midnight Special. That thing was supposed to be a goofy one-off though, so I never really thought about continuing it in any way. I remember trying to think of ways those robots could show up as an easter egg in something, though.

I would accept "it would be cool" tbqh.

That's honestly a more believable set-up for some things than most. Terry's got the technical know-how, he's got the equipment, he's got a destination, and a minor disregard for personal safety; why not?

Then the space station can just be what it is. Hostile security, Enclave remnants, Vermicious Knids, etc.

Yep, that definitely fits with what we've seen from Terry thus far. Given that he's a prospector type, he'd surely realize a space station would be a veritable treasure-trove of untouched pre-war tech.

I made a couple of rough proof-of-concepts for the station using leftover Mothership Zeta assets, which I'm not quite sure fit very well with the pre-war aesthetic. Super rough WIP shot:

Hell, I wouldn't mind something 60s/70s like for a space station. I think that'd still be lore friendly. There's an old game called No One Lives Forever, 60s spy parody with a space station level, it's pretty sick.

Never heard of that game, but I'll check it out as a possible source of inspiration :P

Maybe Terry finds communications from shortly before the war revealing a scientific breakthrough on the space station, one that's designs never made it back to earth.

He could've just found some documents in the facility from the original Repconn Blues, that mentioning a mysterious McGuffin, that's supposedly up there.
The documents make it seem extremely important and if there's something so important up there, then who knows what else they could've stashed there.
The McGuffin doesn't even need to by of any actual value, it could just be something that lost any worth it might have had after the war.

What if Terry's great, great, great someone was an astronaut that was stuck on a space station when the apocalypse happened. The story about him was told through generations of Terry's family and left quite an impression on him. And then suddenly, now, a SOS signal came from that same space station.
