About this image

First draft of night lighting. The thing I hate most about the vanilla lighting is the horribly overbright horizon at night, which may be realistic in the early evening, but that's what the sunset/night transistion is for.

Because its very important to me that light sources maintain their color in order to contrast with the nightlighting, I am using only the barest amount of tinting. This has the side effect of the Moon being decidedly Not Blue, in fact its very yellow, which is slightly jarring. I'll probably look in to recoloring the moon  texture directly.

Something that I always dislike about existing mod nights is they just make everything black in order to be "realistic", which is basically equivalent to turning the lighting system off. It doesn't, and will never look good; hence following the obsidian/bethesda example of stylized night lighting. I still want to reduce visibility for gameplay reasons though, but im looking to accomplish that through contrast- hiding enemies in the shadows and dark colors, rather than just making it literally impossible to see.

Also this is with the moonlight NVSE plugin.
