"As we headed north, we fended off some raiders, and some giant ants. We even met a travelling performer with a guitar under a bilboard.
Over time, we were beginning to get a bit tired, and low on food, as our breakfast had taken up the last of our food provisions.
A sign pointed us in the direction of a 'Boulder City'. when i saw the word city, my mind streamed with images of a bustling town, and that checkered coat, and i headed that way, quickly.
As the city came into view, i had my doubts. and when i got there, i was let down. the whole place was... destroyed. it was almost as if there had been a war here.
I saw a large stone slab next to the road into the city, with an NCR soldier standing in front of it.
I approached, and asked him what it was. he told me it was a memorial to the NCR soldiers who died here. He told me the tale of the Battle of Hover Dam, and what happened.
My heart was immediately filled with regret, and sorrow. regret, for not having been able to be here to help. sorrow for the souls lost here.
I knelt down in front of the slab, and i prayed, as was habit for souls lost to the legion.
I got a pat on the shoulder from Boone, after several moments. it was time to find provisons. We headed to the bar.
We grabbed some food and drink, then asked if the barkeeper had seen a man with a Checkered coat. he told me that he'd seen something like that on the other side of town. i thanked him, and we rushed to the other side.
We met with an NCR trooper. He told me about the situation. some Great Khans, and a man with a checkered coat, were holed up in a destroyed building inside, with NCR hostages.
I felt my eyes light up. he was cornered, i had him. i told him that i could defuse the situation, and they had something of mine wiht them.
He let me pass. I smiled, and made my way into the buildings."

But I digress, great input! I especially like how you convey Elexis' eagerness towards the end, it feels natural and a bit dramatic at the same time. ^^
the next one might be delayed. but i'll get to work on things.
with Skyrim coming up, i'm heavilly losing interest in New Vegas >_<
