When I lost my old computer to an electrical surge a good many of my original characters where lost.  However if you love playing a certain character there is no harm in a total remake of them.  Here is Vera, my main female character for Fallout New Vegas making her way to Nipton from the Mojave outpost.  If you ask her about her armor she will tell you and tell you it's fabricated from baby deathclaw skin - Her hobby and often occupation back home north was hunting Deathclaws amongst other things such as tinkering with her Laser Pistol and Gauss Rifle.
