I've been wanting to try this but I always feel like such a tool when I finally get to Benny and the only way I know to keep him alive is to willingly walk in to an ambush. an yone have any role-playign tips to mitgate this?
Has anyone experienced issues freeing Benny from the Fort as a male courier? I used to be able to give him a bobby pin and stealth boy to escape, but I no longer see that option and as a result I am killed by the Legion. However, when freeing him, it gives me the dialogue telling Benny to meet at the 188 Trading Post.
I spent about 3 hours trying to figure out the problem, but it's actually pretty simple. Follow the instructions on the mod page.
But if he isn't at the 188, simply go back to the fort and go in front of Caesar's tent and type this:
player.moveto 001344BF
Follow him to the drawbridge and wait for him to fully exit. Afterward, walk all the way down to the door that lets you leave the fort, don't fast-travel. Once you're at the dock, he'll be there too. (That's where he showed up for me back to back.)
The double perk fix mod doesn't work. So once you freeze, open your command prompt and type this:
I free benny from the fort i escort him and make sure he is alive untill he leaves drawbrigde but when i go to meet him at the 188 he isnt there any solutions?
For anyone who have screen freeze problem after he talked to you, try "closeallmenus" in the console command when you get the screen freeze, this should fix it.
Benny's alive and well and I got the radio + his teddy bear, but the companion wheel doesn't show up at all :"))) can't get him to follow me at all Edit: Same happens with Reggie and Isobel on the added quest. Only Louie and that Great Khan kid talked :(
Had to deactivate and reactivate the mod on FOMM, it finally works! Every NPC doing ok, quest went well and Benny isn't giving me the Double Perk bug this time. 10/10
Saw a few people asking how to change his Black Widow checks into Confirmed Bachelor ones. Here's how I did it! DISCLAIMER: I'm stupid and had NEVER used FNVEdit before this so if there's a simpler way I wouldn't know. But all of the checks worked just fine and I had no issues.
1. The obvious: Open FNVEdit. Load only BennyReturns.esp. Open the dropdown in the left panel. 2. There'll be a whole list of categories here. Unfold Dialogue Topic. If you go deeper into a topic -- for example: "Keep your distance. Try to flank them.", it will show you his responses to that dialogue choice. For the example I gave, there will be two:
3. The top response doesn't matter. For all of his tactics options, the mod gives him the second option to say to you if you have Black Widow. But we're editing that, so you want to click on "All right, honey baby." to open its properties in the right panel.
4. When you do, you'll see this. Underlined crappily in red are the two fields you need to change -- in mine they say ConfirmedBachelor "Confirmed Bachelor" [PERK:001361B4], in an unedited one they'll still say BlackWidow "Black Widow" [PERK:00094EB8]. Just change both of those fields to your perk of choice. 5?. I also went under the "Script" category, found "BennyReturnsBlackWidowDialogueDUPLICATE", and changed the Reference to Black Widow (very bottom of the right panel) to Confirmed Bachelor, but I don't know if it matters. Again, I'm stupid. From what I can tell it's the check for comments he makes when you put on a few of the sexy sleepwear type outfits..? So if you don't care about that don't bother, I guess.
You will have to change this for every dialogue option that has anything to do with the Black Widow perk. It doesn't take as long as it sounds, though. Have fun. If you do have questions I can try to help. This mod is pretty buggy in general and none of this should cause anything bad if you do it right so pls don't throw bug reports at me. the answer will be "I don't know", because all i know how to do is have gay sex with Benny
Hate to be a bother, but would it be possible for me to edit this mod so that its romantic aspects can also trigger for couriers with the Confirmed Bachelor perk? I'm not new to modding, but I haven't ever attempted to mess with the code of a Fallout mod. I'd assume that I would just have to add a like... or statement (or similar) to the parts that check for the Black Widow perk?
I ended up going into FNVEdit and manually changing all the times the mod checks for the Black Widow perk to Confirmed Bachelor instead, and it worked great! Thank you for the mod.
benny just dissapears the moment he leaves caesar's tent, i use vats to try and see if hes there, nothing, i use the command to teleport to him, it just teleports me to the tent door. what do i do? i went to the 188 and he wasnt there
edit: spawned him in using the command "player.placeatme 0001344BE", but i had to do it at the fort outside caesar's tent, since otherwise he would just try to pathfind his way to the tent again, and then pathfind to the drawbridge. I was unable to find his ID for when he was at the 188, but it may be the same one and it just changes his dialogue upon him triggering leaving the fort idk
edit 2: nvm it didnt work. no idea why it didnt work, the mod might just be entirely broken for me for some reason, since he was not at the 188 at all even after all this
edit 3: apparently, it did work, he just appeared like in the middle of the wasteland instead of the 188. He eventually met up with me at Novac, when I was trying to do Boone's quest. His ID is 140021ec, so if you want to summon him, do player.placeatme 140021ec, and if you want to go to him, do player.moveto 140021ec.
ay, thanks for this comment, its genuily super useful, but for some reason, whenever i try to use his 140021ec ID, it says that the item couldn't be found for the ObjectID. what do i do now? thanks! :3
I found the perpetrator of the "Double Companion Perk" bug. You copy/pasted the hire dialogue's result script for his "Let's go" dialogue. You shouldn't have done that.
I assume one could open the esp in FNVEdit, locate the fix and copy it in a new esp file. It's worth a try, but I recommend Qolore7's mod anyway, since it makes charisma a more useful stat.
Edit: Oh, right. schorcher9009 is the author of the mentioned mod.

You copy/pasted the hire dialogue's result script for his "Let's go" dialogue. You shouldn't have done that.
