Torrent Clients I recommend using: --Deluge: https://deluge-torrent.org/ -- Or, Qubit Torrent: https://www.qbittorrent.org/ There are other torrent clients but these are ad free and spyware free, unlike others like BitTorrent or uTorrent which have become compromised with malware. Make sure the torrent reaches 100%, else it will be corrupt.
About installation: JUST EXTRACT THE 7Zip and RUN THE EXE!
DO NOT TRY TO INSTALL FNC WITH A MOD MANAGER! USE THE EXE!
220's exe will 4GB Patch New Vegas for you! (And automatically skips this if it's installed.)
220 Installs the mod to the directory with FalloutNV.exe. Just point it wherever you want it.
You need 8GB of RAM or More to Run FNC, and Texture Quality set to High or Ultra.
Mod Organizer 2 Special Install Instructions at this link. Remember that your easy mode MO2 install goes like this: Run the EXE from your download folder wherever that is, change the ini setting found below, and that's it. If you want it to be complicated, these instructions are manually unpacking the EXE and doing all that stuff, but it's unnecessary. FNC works just like the DLCs. If it's enabled, cool. If not? It won't hurt anything. So no special hoops are necessary. But that's up to you. I can't tell you how to live your life. You do you.
If you are running FNC totally vanilla (no other mods), you don't even need a mod manager. Just run using FalloutNVLauncher.exe and under DATA make sure all your boxes are checked.
I can't seem to get New California to start. Help?
A -- I installed everything correctly and New Vegas crashes on startup!
You sure? Check your load order. Run like this:
FalloutNV.esm ✓ NewCalifornia.esm ✓
See if it runs now. If not, you may have something else wrong with your installation of New Vegas. Check our discord Help channel.
WE RECOMMEND YOU INSTALL NEW VEGAS CLEAN! NO MODS.
THEN, RUN NEW VEGAS VANILLA TO MAKE SURE IT WORKS!
THEN, INSTALL NEW CALIFORNIA.exe, AND MAKE SURE IT WORKS!
THEN, Install your favourite mods on top of it.
Remember, New California is HUGE! It's basically a new game!
Re-install New Vegas, or install a new copy somewhere, or make an MO2 profile. Then, experiment with mods.
B -- I installed everything correctly and clicked New Game and nothing happens!
Did you install New Vegas clean, no mod, and run the exe as administrator?
Are you sure it installed to the right folder?
Are you sure it installed to the right MO2 mod profile? (See the MO2 instructions above. All you need to do is run the EXE -- that's it. And make sure the below text matches.)
Go to "C:\Users\"YourUserNameHere"\Documents\My Games\FalloutNV"
Search for Fallout.ini and Fallout_Custom.ini
If it says "SCharGenQuest=00102037" replace it with this:
SCharGenQuest=00AD31FF
;SCharGenQuest=00102037 \\this ; is just a "comment" and it is there when you want to uninstall FNC later.
If you use MO2:
Do the same in your ini configurations.
Our EXE attempts to do this, but validating install in steam, TTW, and other mods may prevent it, including some antivirus programmes.
C -- I installed everything correctly and clicked New Game, saw the video, Tackle or Dodge, and Crashed entering the Atrium! (or Black Screen) Did you set your Texture Quality to High or Ultra? We haven't found a way to convince New Vegas to use Medium or Low yet. This causes a crash.
D -- Texture Size is set to High and I just reinstalled everything, and it still won't start!
If you don't have more than 8GB of RAM in your system, you need a PC with more memory.
Sorry, there's no way around that. Some systems work better than others.
We find that installing New Vegas on a Solid State Hard Drives does wonders for performance.
So does disabling background applications like Browsers and other heavy processes.
E -- It still won't run!
Make sure that if you don't have the DLC, you aren't using the DLC Control Plugins. If you are it will cause a crash.
F -- I just can't install it! I get an error!
People getting the missing msvcr100.dll and/or NSIS Bin Error are all missing the Microsoft C++ Visual Runtime Library: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wyDozY5wSd4
This mod has tons of scripted and triggered events, so The console commands MoveToQT, coc, cow, setstage, unlock, resurrect, and placeatme will probably break your quest or game!
If you used any of these console commands, please reload a save from before you used any of them and continue from there, before reporting a bug.
If you do have a bug, please describe it and upload your save here at our Discord server https://discord.gg/Cr39CP8 in the public-bug-reports channel. (just drag the file into the chat window).
A clean install of Fallout New Vegas is recommended. For stability and performance reasons, I would suggest you follow this guide (sections 'intro' thru 'base finish'): Viva New Vegas modding guide for Fallout New Vegas
My game has bugged out twice now. Once on the Kill Elsdragon quest and Revanchist, being unable to sneak in with the battle wagon cause i cant talk to the guy in question and having to fight my way in only to be unable to complete it normally cause I cant rescue Vargas. and again at the end when choosing what to do with the missile, no one spawns from the vertibirds and im just perpetually trapped in this state of limbo with a nuke cooking to launch cause i had to use setstage to finish the former.
If you killed Wilson Wilco earlier in the game, that can cause the Kieva option to silently fail, and thus the battle wagon quest to then also silently fail. There was dialogue written for that eventuality, but I don't think it was ever implemented, where the Shi would talk to you and fill the role of the dead Wilco.
The use of setstage tells me that console commands may have been used elsewhere too, and at that point I have no idea what could be going wrong. I'd need a quest log and description of what happened there.
One of the other two nasty ones are: - Elsdragon can be killed/knocked out early in the Raider quest, and that never got a dialogue for that path, where Noss or Irepani were to take over in his place. So later in the game confronting Elsdragon, he's just dead. :p Need to use resurrect on him to finish that quest. - Sprint mods play hell with New Vegas collision and thus trigger volumes. It's possible to sprint past the trigger bounds before it can detect the collision, letting the player miss important triggers. This is true at AthensTec during the Vertibird start for Join the War Machine and at Union City fighting the Raiders at the Main Gate.
FYI JIP LN NVSE does not work with this mod afaik. I tried completely uninstalling everything just this mod and JIP LN enabled, doesn't work, disable JIP works fine. As far as I can tell from my troubleshooting the only thing not working is the wasteland selection when starting a new game, so I'm thinking it should be fine if you enable all other mods, start a new game, then enable JIP LN and mods that require it. I'll have to try it to know for sure, but just thought I'd mention it in case someone is having trouble.
Edit: so I tried it yesterday and it works, just launch the game with JIP LN NVSE and all related mods disabled. Start the game, choose new California start, then once your in game and can save, do so, exit the game, re-enable JIP LN NVSE and related mods and load your save.
I thought i was deranged that JIP LN NVSE was at fault for causing the "New Game selection" thing. I really wonder if there is a setting that gets in the way of that but it's not that apparent.
Yup you're not crazy..... Latest versions of JIP break this mod... I've gone back to an archived version but probably not old enough since it's not working either.
If anyone is still having this problem make sure all of the SCharGenQuest entries in your fallout, fallout prefs, and fallout custom INI files in MO2 say SCharGenQuest=00AD31FF if they don't, change it to this and it should work normally
So far enjoying the mod. i have a few gripes here and there but i didn't expect it to be 100% finished obviously. No clue if it's still being worked on or not but so far i really like it. if i could add one thing it'd be for more flirty and seductive dialogue with just about everyone and everything- But that's just me!
may i ask that what does NewCalifornia Courier Stash Control.esp and NewCalifornia DLC Control.esp do? i have Star the Wandering Courier (FNC-TTW Patch), is it safe to remove those esp?
Hey, I downloaded the Mod, with the required mods listed in the description page, and now when I open the game through steam and nexus all i get is the first loading screen half faded before the game crashes. I have auto sort on, everything updated, and no errors showing on everything I check. Any suggestions on why it isn't working?
I know, it's stupid. I've asked Nexus staff to change the wording to be more specific, or let us remove that from our page, but they said "nobody else has complained." It catches people all the time. That is a list of mods that require FNC, not mods FNC requires. It's just very confusing and beyond our control.
The Latest build Beta 231 has an issue with the transition to the main story that causes the player to be in a never ending loop trying to get out of doc Mitchell's bed. Don't have the issue if i start a new game in New Vegas, only happens during transition from New California. Issue is intermittent. Ranger Barney's helmet texture is completely red. Also intermittent memory leaks when leaving interior cells, happened to me when leaving fort daggerford during first visit, leaving the NCR regional HQ, and the transition area between the elevator and the last area where the last boss is.
Just finished both Fallout 1 and 2, and man I couldn't stop thinking of this mod whilst getting immersed in the originals. This is such a great mod, and many of the references and themes of this mod will be even better when I play this again.
