This mod started out as an Addition to my Elijahs Prototype Holorifle:

I have now removed it from that mod and rolled that mod back to Version 1.3.
This mod now adds that same Holographic Emitter as a stand alone weapon, in a version that does not require Dead Money and one that does,
There is a data terminal entry at REPCON HQ that explains the process of how they obtained the prototypes from the Z-38 lightwave dynamics research at Big Mountain.
There is also a data terminal entry at the Z-38 lightwave dynamics research lab at Big Mountain, that explains how the weapon came to being in the first place.
That data entry also suggests how Father Elijah got the idea to make his Prototype Holorifle, which can be obtained through the link I posted above.
It also ties together the Holorifle that you receive when starting Dead Money.
The Genesis for all of that is the Z-38 lightwave dynamics research lab at Big Mountain.
The screen shots section will provide the clues and visuals as to the Who, What, Where, and How, of the Q-36 Holographic Emitter.
The Q-36 Holographic Emitter is not for the low level player.
You will need high Lock Pick, and Science skills to obtain it now matter where it is in the game, Dead Money DLC or not.
You will need high Strength and Energy Weapons skills to utilize it to its fullest potential.
The Z-38 lightwave dynamics research lab technician that conceived and developed the Q-36 Holographic Emitter, puts it this way:
"It is akin to having an Energy Cell detonate in the palm of your hand and not losing your arm in the process."
And if you read all of the data terminal entries for the Q-36 Holographic Emitter, you will find out for yourself if he was wrong or right in that estimation.
Both versions have been added to all applicable Lists and Perks.

Install
=======
1. Download to a temporary location.
2. Copy files to (install folder) C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\fallout new vegas\Data (If that is your directory, if it is not you will have to find it.)
3. Start Fallout New Vegas Launcher, click 'Data Files', verify there is a checkmark beside the Q36HandHeldHolographicEmitterOWB.esp file, or Q36HandHeldHolographicEmitterOWBDM.esp for the DLC.
4. Or install it using FOMM
Uninstall
=========
1. Start Fallout New Vegas Launcher, click Data Files, uncheck the .esp file(s).
2. Delete the file associated with the mod.
Incompatibility
===============
None that I know of, as long as the mod requirements are used.
Known Issues or Bugs
====================
None that I know of.
As with any mod, a backup of your save game is suggested.
If you come across any please let me know.
