About this mod
Recently introduced, 300 AAC Blackout is a alternative caliber for 5.56x45mm firearms. It provides greater projectile selection and high power, making such weapons useful later in the game.
- Permissions and credits
This modification, developed by a tactical firearms enthusiast, is a highly realistic injection of the 300 AAC Blackout cartridge into the game. All base 5.56 weapons can be modified to use the caliber and custom hand loads, including Armor piercing incendiary and sub sonic rounds, can be produced. Ballistic performance is faithfully recreated, as is the reloading and re-sizing process.
This mod adds no graphical assets into the game.
--------
To acquire a 300 AAC Blackout firearm, first go to a workbench with at least three pieces of scrap metal and forge a 300 AAC BLK barrel, then take the 5.56 or 5mm firearm you wish to convert to that workbench and install that barrel into the firearm.
Proceed to a reloading bench and resize your 5.56 cases, then handload a 300 BLK round of your choice.
300 BLK ammo and weapons can be bought at the Gun Runners. 300 BLK variants of unique weapons (such as That Gun or The All American) cannot be bought and must be made using the unique weapon in question.
-------
This mod is compatible with the following firearms:
-Service Rifle
-Assault Carbine
-Varmint Rifle
-"Ratslayer"
-"That Gun"
-Light Machine Gun
-Marksman Carbine
-The All American
_______________
You can make any weapon in the game compatible with 300 AAC Blackout by opening the GECK with my mod as the active file (and New Vegas's esm loaded, of course), finding the weapon you want to convert, and changing its ammo type to "ammolist300BLK" or something along those lines (I'm not sure exactly what I named it). Then increase damage and range by roughly 30%.
You may want to change the projectile to "308RifleBullet" in "Art and Sound" as well for the sake of realism.
I do not recommend rechambering a weapon in this way, as it detracts from the authenticity of the mod, but for weapons added to the game by other mods (such as the VLTOR SBR) it is the ONLY way to convert them to 300 BLK. Changes to range and damage made by you in this way are ad-hoc and unrealistic. Use at your own risk.
If there is a widely used mod that adds a 5.56 weapon into the game I may write a patch to specifically and authentically incorporate it, tell me in the comments what mod you would like to see this one made compatible with.
