About this mod
The NCR squatters are claiming their territory! And, er...setting up a small market. For now.

What is The Eastside Project? Well, it's a planned series of small mods I'm making to add something for the (apparent) NCR squatters who are (apparently) filling up Freeside. I was disappointed the first time I played the game and did the quests for the Kings, imagining some enormous street battle between Freeside locals and the squatters. But...well...it didn't happen. Add to that, you can't find many squatters, and there's a HUGE amount of unused space near Cerulean Robotics, and...I decided to add a shanty town for them. I'm still a beginner at this modding lark, so I'm working up to the more complicated parts, but I'm starting small. I'm hoping to have a full series of mods that add to the overall feel of Freeside and the squatters, merging them together in one large mod eventually. So they're now in 'Eastside', a section of Freeside that seems both abandoned by other NPCs, and also seems to be the place that NCR military woman (what'shername) hands out the soup. Also, there are some markers for quests in this mod, but there also some that are not there. This is a mod that encourages (and rewards) for being nosy and exploring a little bit.
***YOU ONLY NEED VANILLA FNV FOR THIS MOD. Nothing else. :)

- Two new locations to explore - 'Eastside Town Market', and the 'Sunset Sarsaparilla Testing Labs'.
- Two (albeit very simple) new quests to do.
- A ton of new NPCs; some are named and have a purpose, others are 'squatters' to make the place feel more populated.
- Three new vendors, one of them selling something unique.
- Lots of loot to collect in various places.
- Some new backstories, both Pre-war and FNV-present.
Talk to the friendly locals!

What Else Is Coming For Eastside/Already There?
Eastside Project - Garage: Something I'm still grappling with, but I think I'll get it out in the end. I'm a bit perplexed as to how there's vertibirds and such, and the NCR did use vehicles before...and now no one seems to have considered it again. So I'm thinking some sort of Moira-like eccentric who might just want to set up a kind of taxi service across the Mojave. Possibly with the aid of fast travel. We'll see.
Eastside Project - Arena: Says it all, really. An arena for the squatters of Eastside to relax and earn a few caps. And if a wandering courier should happen to want to join in, so much the better. There's going to be a number of quests and smaller locations that go along with this one, too.
Eastside Project - Random Shops: Basically filling up some of the empty buildings around the same area as the rest of the shanty town, but it's still undecided what exactly they're going to be. If anyone has a suggestion, pop it in the comments, and I'll try to work the best ones in.
Eastside Project - The Alliance: Not all of the squatters are content to sit back and see what happens, so a few brave souls are taking matters into their own hands. The Legion has killed off just one too many loved ones, and now contracts are on their heads. A wandering courier might just be the next recruit to take on the vengence of these lost souls. 1) Is this lore-friendly?
You know what, I don't know. Yes and no. I don't go mad with power, but at the same time, where does it say that the squatters are taking up a huge section of Freeside? It's somewhere inbetween. I've stuck to everything that's known about the NCR and Freeside, but at the same time, maybe squatters wouldn't be making a shanty town, or you think that huge area should be kept empty. Just enjoy the ride.
2) Will this conflict with...
This will conflict with any mod that uses the carpark in front of Cerulean Robotics, but other than that, I can't see any major clashes with anything. You ONLY NEED THE VANILLA FNV for this mod. I used nothing else, just because I know not everyone
3) About the voices....?
Yes?...
Yup, they're not as good as I would like. My fiance (the male voices) and I are native British speakers, so we've done our best at Californian/American accents, but they're not the best. But I hate when you have to read subtitles underneath a silent NPC, so I figured it was better to have some voices than none at all, and it would have been weird to have British accents for NCR citizens, haha. BUT...if you can do a better accent/are a native Californian speaker, and you would be happy to record some dialogue for this mod, I will give you credit and internet cupcakes for the rest of eternity. *Disclaimer - the cupcakes are not real.
4) I don't like this part and that part of the mod...
I don't like mushrooms, but restaurants still keep putting it in my pasta. I'm just saying.
5) Will these little mods eventually be one big mod?
Yes, they will! I want to do all the parts separately so that people can pick and choose which bits they want (once they're all done), but I'm also going to merge them into one big file once they're all done. I'll be doing the other mods as and when I can, so keep an eye out.
6) Are you being rude here? What was that about the mushrooms?
No, I'm just being slightly sarcastic, and I'm not trying to annoy anyone. ;) Look at that winky face. That's what I'm doing right now. Unless that's creepy. In which case, I'm just smiling. With a mildly raised eyebrow. But mostly, I want someone else to get a bit of enjoyment out of the mod too. I'm serious about that bit.
Big, big thank to anyone who downloads and enjoys the mod! Comment if there's any issues with it, comment if there isn't, and comment if you like cupcakes. And say 'hi' to this guy for me.
