Performance issues? Make sure you read up on performance fixes for this game because it's severely lacking in that department, yes even in comparison to FO3 which runs much, much better: Please check this page: Utilities | Viva New Vegas One Tweak (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/40706) makes a tremendous difference for me, game is unplayable without it.
I'm getting microstutter specifically with the BSA version. Weirdly it's in regular spikes, only when my character moves. The loose version is fine and doesn't do this.
I had this issue too, the best solution for me was to increase iMinGrassSize from 40 to 60. There will be slightly less grass but it seems to mitigate the stuttering pretty well.
Just adding here that I also experience this issue, with the loose version, and with a very fast PC (with a 4090). Running in Linux through Proton in case that's relevant.
Not using OneTweak cuz I use New Vegas Tick Fix, and also cuz WINE basically makes full screen games into borderless windows automatically anyway. Using all the fun stuff to optimize performance from the Viva New Vegas guide, including DXVK.
Heavily modded game runs beautifully without this mod, and kind a shitty with it. Increasing iMinGrassSize made no difference.
My go to groundcover mod for the game, really great all around honestly. Would really love to see you cover the DC wasteland some day with a TTW version.
This adds some nice variety to the up close scenery, well done! From the beginning, I wanted to see more cacti in NV. Though I must agree with the other comments that the tall cactus is a little annoying and has a tendency to pop in. I'll opt to keep it because they are charming once they show up.
you can play in third person and it disappears, but yes, in first person it will look like that sometimes. No way to fix afaik, same in Skyrim if you use bigger meshes for plants.
I could make all plants short as the grass but it would take away too much i think. and ofcourse, for many plants it would not make sense to be that small and would just have to remove them.
So the problem started when the meshes got bigger? Bigger than vanilla, or bigger relative to other plants? Because if the former... does the object bounds data govern when this should be visible?
I play a very hardcore survival playthrough and often find myself running towards what seems to be green plants ready to harvest only to be disappointed upon realizing the plant mesh I want to pick food from is just a static decoration. Is this an issue on my end? I figured the plants would be identical to the withered and brown looking variants in the base game since you wrote that this is the "dead version". Either way I'll be looking into this further and I appreciate the mod, no real issues on my end.
i'm not sure if the mod would be worthwhile if all plants looked dead.. there's a few green ones yes, but i think after a while they get very recognizable and can be ignored as just static plants.
What i could do is add a more desaturated version. I'll look into that later.
I appreciate the response, apologies if my comment came off rude-as I really do like this mod. A desaturated version would be awesome, looking forward to it.
What do you think could be causing the glitch in the image above?? LOD files? Bad installation of the January update? I've used this mod with the exact same ENB, LO position and whatnot for a better part of a year, and this is the first time I've seen something like this. It only dissipates when I get very close to the shrubbery. If you were curious, it has priority over most of my other mods, beaten only by JSU, large dragbody overhauls and a few others. Putting it lower did not fix it.

Sadly BOTH versions have this stutter, but for sure the BSA version is worse. Silky smooth without mod. Shame
Wonder what's causing it?
Walls new mod zLib update should help fix the issue with slow loading but it’s best to decompress your bsa archives.

it's under files there called roads and terrain overhaul, or something similar.

It's pretty while still, but this is too bad to play with. Anyone else experience it to this degree?

Here my settings
iMaxGrassTypesPerTexure=2
iMinGrassSize=80
IF you have a regular laptop use those setting
