The Service Rifle is one of my weapons of choice in New Vegas. Low skill requirements, high precision and decent reliability always made a decent combination against enemies with light or no armor. However, it always felt weaker than it was supposed to. I just felt that the 18 base damage it does was weaker in comparison to the Marksman Carbine and the GRA pistols.
I tried various mods that turned it into a full-auto rifle, but none buffed the gun to be closer to the real-life M16A1. Others added standalone rifles, which I never really liked. So, I did this mod out of personal taste.
What it does: - raises the damage to 25, one point below the .45 SMG. (Reduced to 21 in optional file) - turns the weapon into a fully-automatic assault rifle, with proper fire loop. - reduces weight to 7.5
This may make early-game easier, as my intent was to use this with mods that changed damage values to be realistic. But, it will also make firefights with the NCR a lot more interesting, as a squad of troopers can now project a great amount of firepower.
But why this? There are already plenty of mods that make the SR full-auto! I am well-aware, but this was out of personal taste. The only other mod that performs the same idea without changing the Service Rifle too much was Full-Auto Service Rifle, but it didnt change the attack animation from Attack3 to AttackLoop. This also replaces all the existing rifles, so anyone who was already carrying one will be affected. And like I said, this was out of personal taste.
