This mod is an expansion for JIP Companions Command and Control that allows it to be compatible with many, many more companion mods by changing the way the icons are done. Previously, if you had any companion mods that weren't previously covered by JIP CCC, the icons of their faces wouldn't appear. You'd instead have a default, blank face. We also never cared for how the faces were implemented. If you use graphic mods, it isn't infrequent that a companion's face icon does not visually match their actual face.

To ameliorate these issues, we decided to change the purpose of the icons. No longer do they show you a companion's face. Instead, they show you the companion's faction allegiance! We find this much preferable and more lore-friendly. It lets you know with whom you are traveling, based on their ideological stances or personal backgrounds. It doesn't automatically mean they will or won't shoot at any given person. It just says where they're from or who they are. By using these faction icons, we were able to cover a large amount of companions significantly easier.

This mod only requires JIP CCC. Nothing else. But since some mods add JIP icons of their own, you should load/install this mod after them. It is also worth mentioning that JIP CCC by default covered a lot of Fallout 3 content. We accounted for those, too. So just be aware that there are Fallout 3 companions in the list below, but that doesn't necessarily mean that a New Vegas version exists. TTW companions will work.

There is one incompatibility issue. We naturally didn't cover every single companion mod in existence. So, if you use a companion not in the lists below, they will use the default icon: Wasteland, which is used for companions with no clear faction allegiance or background. The incompatibility issue arises if they have the same name as one in the list below. JIP CCC requires that companions have unique names when adding avatar icons. Therefore, if you use a mod with a character that happens to be named Joshua, that companion will have to share the New Canaanites icon with Joshua from Honest Hearts. So just check the list, and you'll probably be fine.
