About this mod

Rebalances the Arc Welder from Lonesome Road and gives it new effects. It now does shock damage to non-robot targets (still doing its previous EMP damage to robots) and burn damage as well. Its fire rate and damage have also been increased and its impact sound has been changed. It also has a brand new crit effect and an improved projectile.

Changelogs
This mod reworks the Arc Welder from Lonesome Road by rebalancing it and giving it new effects. The fire rate and base damage have been raised to give it a DPS similar to that of the Flamer and its critical chance has been raised to account for the effect of the increased fire rate (due to the automatic weapon critical chance formula). It still has a lower base damage than the Flamer to account for the fact that more powerful types of damage-increasing ammo are available for the Arc Welder.

In addition, the Arc Welder now does shock damage to non-robot enemies (it still does its enhanced EMP damage to robots) as well as burn damage to all enemies. The damage of its EMP effects has been raised by 75% (this seems high, but it was VERY low - the new EMP damage values are balanced against the Pulse Gun, with attacks per second very much in mind). It does not set enemies on fire directly, but it does cause a "smolder" effect and enemies will explode with electrical sparks and smoke instead of disintegrating on a critical killing blow (mainly because the disintegration effect looks bad when multiple effect shaders are already on the actor). The Arc Welder is also added to the list of weapons affected by the Pyromaniac perk. These effects should make the Arc Welder more effective, more unique, and most importantly, a weapon worth using.

Some graphical and sound changes are also included. The Arc Welder now has a more fitting 'electrical buzz' impact sound. I've also removed the light beam from the arc lightning projectile because it looked rather jarringly 'flat' (it was, after all, a plane rather than a true light beam shape). In my opinion, the projectile looks better without it. I also increased the range of the projectile to make the weapon more satisfying to use. You will no longer experience the feeling that your lightning is reaching a target and yet you aren't hitting it.

It seemed to me that a weapon using the electric resist type should probably do shock damage, especially considering that it shoots lightning. It's also a welder, though, meaning that it should generate a lot of heat, causing enemies to smolder and suffer burn damage. The new critical hit killing blow effect works much better graphically than the disintegration with the weapon's new effects, and represents the heat building up inside the enemy with such magnitude that they explode.

I also experimented with giving the Arc Welder its own "Electrical Charge" regenerating ammo, but the idea worked rather poorly with a weapon that causes lingering effects and fires so fast, so I abandoned it and stayed with the ECPs.

REQUIREMENTS
Old World Blues and Lonesome Road are required.

KNOWN ISSUES
None. Please report anything you find in the comments.

CONFLICTS
This mod will conflict with anything that modifies the Arc Welder or its associated object effect, projectile, and impact. Fixes from YUP are incorporated.

OPTIONAL FILES
I have included a file with meshes that eliminate the Arc Welder's backpack, mainly aimed at users of Whack the Backpack by cx405, since that mod does not affect the Arc Welder.

Upon request, I have also added a Miscellaneous File that only changes the Arc Welder's object effect and nothing else, thus not editing any forms for the weapon itself, its projectiles, etc. I personally do not recommend this version, as it feels rather incomplete.

INSTALLATION
Put the contents of the mod folder (the folder with the .esp and "meshes" inside of it for the main mod and the folder with "meshes" inside of it for the optional file) into your Data folder, or use a mod manager. To uninstall, delete the mod's files (.esp and meshes if applicable) or uninstall using a mod manager.

ADDENDUM
I have made a lot of mods. Because I like to create different versions to give the user plenty of options, it's extremely difficult for me to bundle my mods together. I recommend getting the FNV Mod Limit Fix by iranrmrf, or try using a tool like Merge Plugins by Mator.
