Description:
This mod remodels the Goodsprings Schoolhouse to add containers that adds virtually every item in the game. This also adds an NPC in the school. This NPC allows you to alter your faction reputation and quest progression.
I understand that pretty much everything this mod does may be done with console commands, however this is a very user-friendly mod that allows players to "spawn" any item of their choosing by simply going to a physical location in the game to grab the item(s) of their choosing instead of looking up every item I.D. and typing in a command. This also applies to the NPC added. This mod is designed for those who wish to quickly recreate or restore a character that was lost, forgotten, or corrupted, to cheat, experiment, or to debug their game regarding quests or items.
Details:
- The school has been remodeled to remove a lot of the junk that is piled up in it, like the garbage papers on the floor and the mantis scattered in the school. It also makes sense from a lore perspective that the school wouldn't be a crap hole. I'd imagine the settlers would clean it up to use it as a little bit of extra storage for the small town of Goodsprings. I cleaned it up and fixed a couple of glitchy floor textures from the base game.
- An NPC (famously known as Testacles the Debug Centurion) has been added in the school, sitting down in a chair, however, I have renamed him to fit with the easter egg listed below. Speaking with this NPC allows you to change your faction reputation with every faction, and he allows you to change your quest objective completion with many quests throughout the game. In fact, you may "beat the game" by literally only speaking with this NPC instead of playing the game.
- A very large easter egg referencing another game has been included in this mod with as much detail as I felt to reasonably add.
Extra Notes/Known Issues:
- As stated above, I have been informed that this mod may not work on lower end PCs. If you enable this mod and can load the main menu, then you are perfectly fine and can proceed with no problems at all (other than the schoolhouse simply being laggy as listed below).
- There is a bit of lag in the school because of all of the items. On my PC I'm able to be in the school with a stable 40-45 FPS. I do not know how to fix this problem; however, I have reduced it as much as I could. Disabling real-time loot menu mods does not reduce the lag. Believe it or not, the number of various items (adding 1 of every item) has almost no effect on lag. However, adding large stacks of items is the true cause of the lag. Because of this, I had to set reasonable amounts of each item individually. This took me a very large amount of time. Some items (such as junk rounds, and some non-functional items from the game files) are not included to simply reduce lag. Since you'd most likely be in the school for only a few minutes at a time, this shouldn't be too troublesome for you. If someone knows of a way to fix the frame rate, please let me know.
- When you leave the school to load the open Mojave Wasteland, the loading screen will be rather long (for me it's about 5-10 seconds). I'm assuming this is because it's just trying to clear the school's world space of the tons of items. I've never had it crash, so you shouldn't need to worry about it.
