This mod makes it to where the Armored Vault 101 Jumpsuit will gain new effects as you progress through the Wasteland Survival Guide quest.
The Armored Vault 101 Jumpsuit is one of my favorite armors, and pretty much my go to armor for the first good chunk of a TTW playthrough. While I do think it's already balanced fairly considering it's an early game light armor, I do think it gets outclassed pretty quickly. I wanted to make this to just prolong its usefulness a little bit further by adding a few effects.
Note: Please do not bother the TTW team regarding problems or questions with this mod. Let me know in the comments on this page.
Requirements
- TTW 3.3+
While not recommended, a save game that has the Wasteland Survival Guide completed/active will have the effects added automatically depending on progress.
How it Works
Note: This affects ONLY the 101 suit. The 21 and 13 armored suits are not changed.
- The suit still keeps its vanilla effects. Nothing is changed except that new effects get added.
- To get the effects, you have to begin the next chapter of the quest. It doesn't matter which task you start with, however.
- You'll get a corner message in-game when the effects are added. You'll also see the effects in the Armor section and Effects section in the Pip-Boy.
- You do not have to have the armor equipped or in your inventory. You'll get the message and effect added to the armor regardless. Yes, you will still get the effects if it's equipped or in your inventory too.
- This does not effect the appearance of the armor in any way.
Effects
- Start of Ch.2: +1 Agility
- Start of Ch.3: +5 Energy Resistance
- Completion of Guide: +10 Survival
I didn't want to go too crazy with the added effects or buffing its vanilla ones because it is an early game armor and so that it doesn't mess with balance much. You already get several rewards for doing the WSG.
Future Plans
- I intend to release a version later on that has the suit effects change depending on how you answer Moira's questions for your tasks (like snide or intelligent response), or depending on if you do the bonus objectives in a chapter.
- I may make a version that changes the 21 and 13 suits with different effects as well.
- Currently, I have no plans to change the armors appearance. Anyone is free to use this mod and do so, however.
Compatibility
Incompatible with anything that alters the Object Effect of the Armored Vault 101 Jumpsuit.
Installation
Use MO2 or Vortex to download.
Questions/Answers
Q: Why make this?
A: I love the Armored Vault 101 Jumpsuit. I think it's a great, balanced armor and it serves its purpose early-game. I made this for two reasons; 1. I simply wanted to give myself a reason to hold onto it a little further in the game, 2. I wanted this to be the first mod that I made a serious attempt at making.
Q: I don't like the effects you added. Can you add EffectA to replace EffectB? Can you increase/decrease EffectC?
A: Maybe! I'm open to suggestions on altering the effects. So long as it's not game-breakingly strong/weak, I may change the effects somehow.
Q: Why does this mod not alter the appearance of the armor?
A: That's outside of what I know how to do. A big cause of crashes come from bad meshes. Since I don't know what I'm doing there, I'd rather not mess with it. Anyone else is free to change this mod however they see fit.
Q: How can the effects change when the armor isn't even in your inventory? That doesn't make sense. MUH IMMERSHUN!
A: Yeah, it doesn't make sense. If you weren't going to use the armor, there's no point in downloading this anyway. I didn't want to make the process tedious and make it where you have the suit equipped/with you when speaking to Moira. That's not fun. God forbid you forgot the suit in a container somewhere, started a new chapter, and went through hours of gameplay and then realized you didn't have the suit and missed out on a little +5 ER boost for the armor.
Thanks To
darthbdaman - For teaching me how to actually get started with this mod and changing the object effects through QuestVariables. Also recommended that I made a copy of the object effects so that my new effects attached to the 101 armor didn't effect the 21 or 13 variants. Didn't know how to start until they helped.
RoyBatterian - Helped me along with darth regarding the QuestVariables conditions for the newly added effects. Also gave me the idea of making a version where the effects are altered depending on responses to Moira. Didn't know where to start until they helped.
Sweet6Shooter - Helped me prevent the message boxes from constantly running when the suit upgraded. Also helped me fix bugs when making the update.
TTW Team - For making and maintaining TTW throughout the years.
