Introduction

Atmospheric Lighting Tweaks makes changes to Image Spaces and Lighting Templates to give interiors a more dynamic and atmospheric look across both New Vegas and TTW.

No light sources or other objects have been placed in any cells, but a number of cells which had no assigned image space/lighting template or had ill-fitting ones have been re-assigned ones better matching my interpretation.

Requirements

FNV + All DLC + YUP or TTW 3.3+ if using the TTW version.

Installation

Use the mod manager of your choice (I recommend, use, and will support MO2).
Load the .esp near the end of your load order, after anything that touches vanilla cells.

FAQ

  • I really like my current lighting overhaul. Why should I switch?

You shouldn't! If you're happy with vanilla or another lighting overhaul, there's no inherent benefit to using mine, especially if you don't like what you see in the images. I made these to my preferences, not for any technical reason.

  • Performance impact?

None. Nothing is added by ALT, I simply am changing brightness and color values. If you can run vanilla, you can run this.

  • Will you add [feature from another mod]?

Probably not. I do intend to continue updating ALT, and it is not impossible that sometime in the future I decide to add more tweaks to it (directly or as optionals), but they will not likely venture beyond the scope of very light (get it?) light value edits, etc.

  • This is not realistic/natural/good/etc.! Bad mod!

I never set out to make interiors natural, just less flat than vanilla. If a particular cell or image space you find especially bad, feel free to let me know in the comments and I can see about going back over it. I am always open to feedback.

  • Does this cover mod-added interiors?

Anything that uses pre-existing vanilla Image Spaces or Lighting Templates (which will be most mods). It won't cover any mod that made it's own, but if the modder took the time and trouble to do that, they probably wanted it to look a certain way, and I don't want to step on that.

Recommended Mods

Configurable Pip-Boy Light by Nehred, my own Pointlight Flashlight, or other Pip-Boy light mod of your choice. Interiors are often now darker, and a larger light radius is useful.
Desert Natural Weathers by clayvn or other weather mod of your choice for exteriors.

Compatibility

  • This mod is not compatible with other interior lighting overhauls, such as ILO or SILO.

  • Vault 22 Flora Overhaul Remastered will crash in the Pest Control level due to an issue between it and ALT (and other mods) carrying forward YUP cell flag edits. A scriptrunner patch has been made by Sweet6Shooter, found here. (Integrated into Vault 22 Flora Overhaul Remastered as of version 1.4)

  • As noted in the Installation section, you should load the .esp near the end of your load order, after anything that adds items to vanilla cells.
