About this mod
Most boxcars found in the Mojave have been left open after being raided and emptied of loot. This mod works without a plugin (.esp) file. Although the loot has probably been taken, these boxcars introduce new tactics for cover and potentially stealth.
- Permissions and credits
- Changelogs
This mod was made to mix up the combat and gameplay when exploring areas with boxcars around. In other Fallout titles, boxcars are either completely emptied but accessible or accessible with loot containers still inside. This was something I missed very much in later games.
FEATURES
Previously shut and sealed boxcar interiors are now left wide open after raiders and prospectors have picked them dry. Despite any loot or resources in these boxcars, they make for good cover. Opened boxcars can now be used to stay out of sight or take cover from enemy fire in the distance. Both red and green painted boxcars can be found opened and raided. Some enemies without ranged attacks or strong jumping abilities can potentially be avoided as boxcars are a few feet high off the ground.
INSTALLATION
Install the latest main file. For manual installation, extract the file to your game’s data folder. For a mod manager installation, install the file with your preferred mod manager.
COMPATIBLITY
This mod simply replaces mesh files for boxcar models. Feel free to leave a comment if you have any patch suggestions or requests.
PLANNED FEATURES
In a future update, open boxcars will be partially cluttered and decorated with loot and feature dramatic scenes depicting the remnants and remains of wastelanders or raiders who stayed in them overtime. An additional version that allows all closed boxcars to be opened via sliding doors is also planned.
