"WHO were you? Perhaps a Vault Dweller, lost here, far away from your underground home...Perhaps a mercenary, come to this forsaken land in the search of riches and glory, now equally stranded and cursed. No matter, this is irrelevant now...Begin again, let go and perhaps...perhaps...escape the Mojave...

Intro:

Dust Survival Simulator is probably one of my favorite mods for New Vegas, a dark twisted future for the Mojave where the threats of the various DLCs have come together to ruin the Mojave, leaving us, "The Survivor" hopeless in a quest to simply flee this cursed land...
Considering we often envision the various Fallout protagonists in signature outfits: the Vault Dweller in his Armored Vault 13 Suit, the Chosen One running around naked with a Tribal T51b helmet, or the Courier in Riot Gear, I thus decided to toy with the idea of a similar concept applied to Dust's Survivor, idea now materialized in this mod with this armor set.
Grab your DLC-handed obsolete armors, go hunt those pesty Tunnelers, and use all these to craft your own personal armor that will slowly evolve as your playthrough progress!                                                                     (Yes there is a version for non Dust players)

Overview:

  • A new armor set meant for "The Survivor" (or any Divide's based playthroughts)
  • A special mechanism that will show gradual Cloud-based corrosion on the armor, once a certain time has been spent playing. [Full version only]
  • 3 stages of the armor, each with their own textures and object effects
  • A new Perk: Tunneler's Boogeyman
  • 12 new recipes (in their new workbench category) to enable you to craft, maintain, or simply restore the armor set to its earlier stages [Full version only]
  • Armor set repairable with both Vault Suits and Metal Armor parts
  • A metal helmet is now added in the Goodspring General store + weight of Vault 13 Armor and Lightweight metal armor reduced to carry them both in early game [Full version only]

Detailed content:

"The Survivor"'s Armor:
A makeshift protection outfit that you, "The Survivor", can wear during your journeys in the cursed Mojave. It is essentially made of a salvaged Vault Suit combined with a chest-plate from a metal armor, with additional metal plating protecting your right arm and lower legs. Since you hunt Tunnelers, you also now bring along their remains as trophies, notably hands and a whole head hanging on a meathook.

3 versions of the armor (from left to right) exist and will be swapped for each others as your game progress:
- Regular version: grants +15 Survival and + 1 Sneak .16 DT
- Cloudkissed: grants +25 Survival, + 2 Sneak, + 30 Poison resistance, but -2 DR. 12 DT
- Cloudgorged: grants +40 Survival, + 3 Sneak, + 70 Poison resistance, +2 Endurance but -3 DR. 10 DT

"Where do I find this armor?"
Spoiler:
Show
Full version: You have to craft it by using the Vault 13 Armored Suit, the Lightweight metal armor, some scrap metal and Tunnelers Hides
Light version: All 3 versions of the armor are located in a container in the Canyon leading to the Divide.

"Why would i ever want to use this armor?
Spoiler:
Show
1. It is cool looking
2. better DT than most stuff you can found in Dust, useful bonus and give edge against Tunnelers
3. Easy to repair and maintain

"The Survivor"'s Helmet:
A complementary helmet for the armor, made of a jury-rigged metal helmet with Tunneler tendrils nailed on it. Like the armor, comes in the same 3 versions (regular, Cloudkissed, Cloudgorged) and will be swapped for each others as your game progress. Craftable in the Full version (i placed a helmet in the Goodpsring store to help you), found with the armor in the Light version

Perk: Tunneler Boogeyman:
A new perk active only when wearing one of the three versions of the armor. Grants an efty +50% damage increase against Tunnelers. Will be removed if you remove the armor, but be added back if you reequip it.

Evolving mechanism for the armor [Full version only] :
Spoiler:
Show
A timer system that is set in motion once you put on the regular unworn armor/helmet. After 33 minutes of real-life continued playthrough so 17 hours in-game, you will get a message, loose the stage 1 armor/helmet and have it replaced with the stage 2 armor/helmet. After an additional 125 minutes of real-life continued playthrough so 65 hours in-game, you will get another message, loose the stage 2 armor/helmet and have it replaced with the stage 3 armor/helmet.

Note that opening the Pip boy, fast travelling, sleeping, and waiting don't count in the timer and will merely pause it and resume afterward. In the same vein, leaving your game will put the timer to pause until you restart your playthrough again. Armor and helmet have separate timers that works indipendently

Recipes System [Full version only] :
Spoiler:
Show
After crafting the armor and helmet, you will get the option to (Maintain) or (Restore) your armor sets at a workbench, no matter the stage of armor/helmet you are currently owning:
- (Maintain) enable you to get a repaired version of the same set your are owning, with the condition of having enough scrap metal and a hammer. The more Cloud damaged your armor is, the easier it will be to maintain and the less scrap metal you will require.

- (Restore) enable you to exchange your set for a less Cloud damaged earlier version, with the condition of having Abraxo and high enough Science skill. The more Cloud damaged your armor is, the more difficult it will be to restore to an earlier stage (ex: restoring Cloudgorged armor into Cloudkissed requires 60 in science, while restoring Cloudkissed into regular only requires 30 in science)

About the different versions and their requirements:
Full version: Requires Lonesome Road and The Courier Stash DLCs BUT NOT DUST. Include the timer system and all the recipes. Is primarily meant to be used with Dust since the timer system with Cloud rust make little sense in Vanilla Mojave, but can work without issues in regular New Vegas.
Light version: Requires only Lonesome Road. Doesn't include the timer system nor the recipes. Is primarily adressed to people interested in the armor only, or perhaps only in a certain stage of it. The armor is renamed "Divide Hunter Armor', and the perk description is slighly different.
