Description

This mod is a heavily simplified and more compatible version of Mojave Raiders, intended for use with more 'vanilla'-friendly modlists. It aims to increase the Mojave Wasteland's raider population to more logical levels and also rebalances and diversifies raider loot. This makes the early-to-mid-game's loot progression feel much more natural, as many underused items can now be found in loot. Care has been taken to ensure that any weapon additions adhere to the pre-existing weapon tiers present in the vanilla weapon lists.

The main features are:
  • Hundreds of new raider spawns have been placed around the Mojave Wasteland, including Jackals, Vipers, and Fiends (optional).
  • Some existing raider spawns will now respawn where it was safe to do so.
  • Vipers' equipment now slightly more reflects the tribal 'Gunslinger' lore added to them in New Vegas. The chance of Vipers wearing a variety of western-style headwear has been increased, and a more diverse range of outlaw-inspired vanilla weapons has been added to their weapons lists (like Hatchets, .357 Revolvers, Sawed-Off Shotgun, and Cowboy Repeaters, etc.). These are coincidentally tier 2 weapons, so fit with the existing weapon pools used by Vipers nicely.
  • Vipers also have a chance of carrying Dynamite or throwing weapons.
  • Jackals have been styled as more of a tribal faction, matching their lore. Instances of the more civilian-style clothing have been removed from their armour lists and replaced with Raider armours. They still have a chance of wearing Leather and Metal armours and some of the less 'civilian' Merc clothes. Vipers also now have a chance of wearing Raider helmets.
  • Jackal weapon lists have been expanded to include more low-tier weapons, including missing and underused unarmed weapons.
  • Many vanilla Jackals actually used the 'Boss' weapon lists in the vanilla game, whereas the Bosses used a generic tier 2 weapon list. This has been corrected, and all Jackals actually use their intended weapon lists now, further diversifying their weapon pools. This aspect can sort of be considered as a 'fix' for a vanilla error.
  • Jackals can also carry various throwing weapons.
  • The Jackal Gang will take over the ruins of Niption a few days after the you pass through (optional).
  • More weapons have been added to Fiend weapon lists, whilst maintaining their higher-than-usual occurence of energy weapons for lore reasons. However, they should drop less Laser Rifles now, which is good for both the game's economy and variety.
  • Great Khans have access to a greater range of mid-to-high tier weapons, matching the existing tiers used by them. This dilutes their very limited selection in the vanilla game.
  • Escaped Convict loot has been reduced to make the early game slightly harder. Specifically, the ridiculous amount of Stimpaks, NCR currency, and Dynamite that they carry has been decreased.
  • Powder Ganger and Escaped Convict weapons lists now include a range of tier 1 weapons that they were previously missing. These weapons were present in some unused weapon lists that were intended for Powder Gangers. In some cases, there was a mismatch between different chanced versions of the same list, which has also been corrected.
  • Freeside Thugs have access to a wider range of low-tier melee weapons.
  • The old Fallout 3 ammo list in the generic raider loot leveled list has been swapped for the updated Fallout NV one, which includes more ammo types.
  • Replaced one instance of Rad-X in the generic raider chems list with a wasteland healing list instead. This reduces the occurence of Rad-X (which is mostly vendor trash) and provides a small chance of other wasteland healing items, including Healing Powder.
  • All raiders have a small chance of dropping faction currency instead of caps. This provides more access to underused currency items and can be rationalised by the raiders having stolen or traded for the currency.
  • The Cazador takeover of Bonnie Springs has been restored (the same as included in Uncut Wasteland).
  • Support for Functional Post Game Ending is included.

Installation

This mod requires the following:

Install with you mod manager or manually add to the data folder.

Uninstallation

This mod can be safety uninstalled at any time and will have no permanent effects on your game. Just delete the file and you're good to go.

Compatibility

All NPC edits in this mod are done by script, so most of the conflicts in the original Mojave Raiders are avoided. However, this mod still includes some record edits for adding new items to leveled lists, so you may still need a patch. Particularly, JSawyer Ultimate or similar mods will need a patch, as these mods also edit raider weapon lists.
