About this mod

Swaps the Fire Geckos in (and around) Fire Root Cavern, and rehomes the Legendary Fire Gecko to Bootjack Cavern.

Permissions and credits
New Vegas' environmental storytelling and enemy placement suggests that Geckos that dwell in/around areas with lots of natural sulfur (sulfur caves, and hot springs) will mutate into Fire Geckos, and those that dwell around radioactive areas eventually mutate into Golden Geckos (i.e Vault 34 cave)

Fire Root Cavern despite it's name does not have any sulfur, it also leads directly to the irradiated Cottonwood crater, has irradiated water pooling at the bottom, and it's lighting set conveys the idea that it is irradiated. Interestingly Golden Geckos are present in Cottonwood Crater, but not Fire Root cavern. It just comes across as illogical enemy placement (likely the result of New Vegas' rushed development, and interns being used to handle the making of dungeons instead of the actual overworld area designers; hence also the lack of dungeons)

So simply I disabled the Fire Geckos in (and around) Fire Root cavern, and replaced them with Golden Geckos. Chances for spawns are the same inside, but changed for a couple outside. The Legendary Fire Gecko was also moved to Bootjack Cavern, the site of which Bleed Me Dry leads you to anyway. This change will also balance the availability for the hunting shotgun in the early-mid game since the legendary fire gecko will be a much stronger roadblock to getting it.

All changes were done by disabling the original spawns. So deleted references will not be a problem. For the sake of plugin count conservation I'd recommend merging this plugin.
