About this mod

Inspired by Skillful Lockpickery and Stewie's Tweak, another take on lockpicking where skill drastically affects the difficulty.

I like the concept of Skillful Lockpickery but feel it doesn't go far enough when measuring the difference between the player's lockpick skill and the lock difficulty. I think Stewie's Tweak is much better on the sweet spot size, but I really like the concentric changes from Skill Lockpickery (and the bobby pin health). Since I was unhappy with each individual solution, I figured I would make my own!

The following effects are pre-packaged via Stewie's Tweaks

  • Locks can be picked at any skill level
  • Failing to force a lock breaks the pin instead of the lock
  • Automatically unlock locks that are vastly below the players skill level (without mods that push a skill past 100, this would only be very easy locks auto-unlock at 100 lockpick)
  • Players can use left click to rotate the lock so the entire lockpick mini game can be played with only the mouse
  • Other various enhancements.

There are also configurable settings in the packaged ini to scale lock difficulty with player Agility and Luck. Higher Agility will make lockpicking easier, while lower agility will make lockpicking even harder. Luck has a random chance to be applied, but otherwise works the same as agility - Higher luck makes lockpicking easier while lower luck makes it harder. These settings can be disabled by changing the ini values to 0.
Now it is incredibly unrealistic to successfully pick a very hard lock unless you invest in your lockpicking skill, though it is possible to get through it with a massive amount of luck and bobby pins. On the flip side, locks that are below the player's skill level will be easier. Additionally, there is some random variance added so not every lock of a certain difficulty will have the same sized sweet spot. Sweet spots may be slightly larger or smaller based on random chance. This better simulates how no two locks are the same.
