About this mod
Changes all sounds in-game to fit the old consoles aesthetic.
- Permissions and credits
This mod modifies all sounds with a lowpass filter and a bitcrusher effect, transforming the sounds into an experience reminiscent of early digital audio.
Inspired by this video, every sound, from ambient tracks to combat effects, has been processed to evoke the feel of old consoles or early PC games like Half-Life.
The mod also should cover all DLCs
Features:
- Audio overhaul using lowpass filtering, bitcrushing techniques and downsampling the files.
Recommended Mods:
These mods are heavily recommended if you truly want the PS1 aesthetic, without them this mod seems kind of pointless
- 128x Texture Pack by Scouter408 – Downscale textures for a cohesive retro visual aesthetic.
- Dusty Distance Redone by ToiTuCreuses (Creepy option) – Amplify the eerie atmosphere with enhanced environmental effects.
- Revelation - Lite – Classic Fallout UI mod.
Patching:
Here's a link to the .bat script I made so you can make your own patches to mods (make sure to change the directories before using it)
Installation:
Manual:
- Download and extract the files.
- Backup your existing 'Sound' and 'Music' folders located in the game's 'Data' directory.
- Replace the original folders with the modded versions.
- Play the game.
Mod manager:
1. Plug and play
Restore your backed-up 'Sound' and 'Music' folders to revert to the original audio.
If you use a mod manager just uninstall normally, as any other mod.
Compatibility:
This mod focuses solely on audio alterations and does not include any ESP or ESM files. Ensure compatibility with other mods that modify audio files to prevent conflicts.
Any mod that replaces the original sound files will also conflict with this mod. Any mods that include new sounds will not conflict with this mod but will also not have the filters applied to them so try to keep the load order small if you want the full immersive experience
