Now, this is one fun base:

It's built high up in the air, over a low-grav planet.

You stand on a Sphere Creator, activate the countdown (yes, there's a countdown), and when the sphere materialises under your feet, you get (with a bit of luck) catapulted into space!

Now, if you add a bit of diligence to your luck, then you might be able to use the infamous photo-glitch, and land on a freighter.  Yes, sir, I have photographs showing the base-owner walking on my freighter. (My turrets attacked him, and he, by defending himself, destroyed the middle part of the freighter -- with his handgun.)
