About this mod
A custom exosuit AI voice, performed by yours truly, that I feel is much less harsh than the default.

HELLO!
If you've landed here, there's a good chance you're as fed up with the default exosuit voice as I am. While there are mods that disable the voice entirely, I instead decided to replace it with something a little less grating. As this is my first foray into modding, my original intention was to make this something for myself and a few friends that might enjoy it. After a bit of testing (and whole hell of a lot of patience), it turned out a lot better than anticipated, so I decided to make it public. Hope you enjoy it!
NOTES
- Unless Hello Games changes the file ID's for the sound files, and/or add more, there shouldn't be any need for me to do any compatibility updates. However, when the game does undergo an update, make sure your NMS root folder is still setup to run mods correctly.
- There are a couple of lines I cannot replace due to some strange bug with one of the BNK files. In my many hours of testing, I've very rarely encountered these instances, so it shouldn't be a bother.
- I cannot make the audio any louder than it already is, due to how shoddily the audio system is setup within the game. The AI voice is fed through the same single, global channel through which all other SFX are routed. There's no magic number I can change in Wwise, or some XML file, that can give it any more (or less) oomph. If it's too quiet for you, then I apologize... BLAME MURRAY!!!
HOW I DID IT
By following this step-by-step guide: https://stepmodifications.org/wiki/NoMansSky:Tutorials/Adding_Replacing_Audio ... Major kudos to the kind folks that wrote it and kept it up to date.
Each file was re-recorded using Wavepad Master's Edition. Some heavy EQ, compression, and a couple of built-in voice FX were applied to make myself sound a lot cooler than I ever could IRL.
INSTALLATION
1. Browse to No Man's Sky\GAMEDATA\Mods. If "mods" file doesn't exist, create one.
2. Extract zip to mods folder.
3. Enjoy!
I highly recommend you check out GuitarGuy7's mod here that replaces the "units received" callout with a number of various sound fx from other games if you don't wish to hear me say it constantly during a scanning spree... because I don't either, lol.
