"A highly refined food product, created in the Nutrient Processor." Sounds delicious, doesn't it?
No. No it doesn't. FreeGek Tolobsky here, Old Tobby to my friends. Inventory systems across the galaxy have these very boring descriptions for otherwise delicious (or not very delicious) foods. Well I aim to change that. This data packet will adjust your inventory sensors to better describe Spicy Fleshballs so you don't confuse it with a Spikey Tart.
=========================
Hi everyone, Fluxxdog here! This is a mod that adds some flavor (pun intended) to the various food descriptions in No Man's Sky. The vast majority of them are so bland that there's no real reason to experiment with cooking other than grinding or trying for 100%. So I've worked to make some descriptions that are, at the very least, more intriguing than telling you it can be used in a nutrient processor.
The descriptions were written from the point of view of FreeGek Tolobsky, a Gek for Hire who's been a lot of places. Text written is meant to be fun while still being mostly informative. He also has a preference for apples.
The mod does contain changes to the follow MBINs for NMS 3.98:
- LANGUAGE\NMS_LOC4_ENGLISH.MBIN
- LANGUAGE\NMS_LOC6_ENGLISH.MBIN
- METADATA\REALITY\TABLES\NMS_REALITY_GCPRODUCTTABLE.MBIN
A .lua file is provided in order to merge with AMUMSS and prevent conflicts. Also, if you're playing experimental, it's recommended to use the .lua to generate the .pak file as updated language files will cause issues. The Nexus download will be aimed at the current public release (currently 4.12 Fractal, tested with 4.13).
If you find any typos or other errors, please feel free to let me know. I am not perfect so things may have slipped past my notice. Thank you for your help. Please note: Worm Food (made from Flesh Rope) is not included as it is currently bugged and does not show up as a cooked item in the guide (though recipes show) and they are not consumable. I did report this bug to Hello Games.
TRANSLATORS: If you choose the make a variant for your language, I've included notes in the .lua for writing this in your language. I've tried to set things up so all you have to do is change the subtitles and descriptions and generate the .pak file.
Huge shoutout to Lo2k for his NMS Translator module helping me to work out how to make the many edits. Also, big thanks to the AMUMSS team for their work, without which this entire project would have been a slog and abandoned.
Also hearty thanks to Silelda for effectively being my editor on this.
Enjoy the mod and have fun!
