Before they became ruins, they Ayleid settlements were populated by Ayleids (unsurprisingly). Ayleid architecture and decor is quite alien to humans who find it dark, harsh and lacking in privacy.

Pictured is the settlement that was shown in the trailer, and is one of the first that the player will enter during the questline. Those with keen attention to detail will be able to guess the location. :)
