Using the magnificent TES4ll mod: http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/40549/?
It adds so much detail to distant land meshes, benefiting water edges and mountains the most. I also used the mod to generate detailed normal maps on the mountains with fake shadows, to really highlight the valleys and erosion.
