Is he an "ordinary" guard mage or is he something like the boss of that Level? (weren't there bosses for each level? )
It's been too long since I watched those Nehrim "Let's Play"s on youtube. The only thing I remember (if my memory doesn't let me down) is that at the end (on top of the tower) one have to use a .... "strange invention" to leave that place. I don't tell more since I don't know if you've already rached the top of the tower.
