About this image
Last image for this session is yet another Morrowind conversion, and also upgrade Work In Progress. After
digging up a few other water mills from free download sites, I really wanted a Skyrim style water mill. As luck
would have it, there was a model created by Rubberman for use in Morrowind. It had open permissions and
had already been converted by kenkyaku for the oblivion Crafting mod.
I wasn't able to get in touch with kenkyaku so just did a fresh conversion on my own. While Rubberman's
model bears a resemblance to a Skyrim mill, it was much smaller and was missing many of the architectural
elements. Still it made a very good starting point to build off of.
I've scaled the model up by half again to match in size, added the log stacking area on the side, added the
ramp on the end, added rope railings, reconfigured a number of framing elements such as the roof and
arch supports. Still need to add more woodwork, close up some gaps, and make a hole for the flywheel.
But it's shaping up rather well now.
Should point out that the texture scheme shown here is just placeholder. It will have standard Oblivion
colors once finished.

Well....maybe a few headaches. Certainly no more than some other modding aspects I've delved into. Look at it this way, I'm a novice at model editing in general. So yes, it's a little slow going. But in just a few short months I've learned a lot. It's become easier and more comfortable, as anything does with practice. I would encourage people to try their hand at it.
By way of update, this model has evolved in the days since posting. The stone base which was separate pieces has now been melded into a single piece. with unseen parts having been cut away. The wood flooring has likewise been unified. Additional framing and braces have been applied. A hole (with sunken shadow box) has been cut in the floor to fit the flywheel. Now I need to find a suitable Oblivion mesh to serve that purpose. And I'm down to just re-fitting the saw apparatus and mill wheel to fit this edited architecture. Light at the end of the tunnel as they say.
In any case, thanks for the remarks. Always a pleasure to see another long timer still around.
