this drawing depicts the Knights of the Thorn trying to hold their defences.

Now when you think about it this guys are totally underrated. I mean take for example the Templar Knights. Most of their armies were comprised of mercenaries, random dudes and even criminals who wanted to get a second chance in this life or at least in the afterlife, and the ammount of actual knighty dudes was kinda low in comparison.

Also their strategy was not so good because a lot of men died out of starvation and diseases before even getting into battle, and their horseback tactics weren't as good as the ones practiced by their oponents. They even had a lot of beefing between the different orders.

So the Thorns get a lot of hate because of not being professional warriors and gettin drunk,  and yeah they probably rushed into battle without taking into consideration all the possible risks, but c'mon, they had the balls to do it so, just like the Templars of old running into the battlefield with kinda poorly planned strategies

and yeah one thing I love bout Oblivion is that you can see an elf wearing armor and said armor not neccesarly being your typical Peter Jackson weird elvish hoplite armor ripoff , but an OG gothic armor. Because the dunmer are pragmatic guys, and why are they even bother making bonemold armors when they are so far from their homeland and they have better materials like, ahem, steel? so yeah they will keep some of their customs like being jerks and doing weird esoteric stuff, but they will also totally be into steel armors and all the advantages you can get when you live in the capitol of the empire.
