It's the official Oblivion remake. A completely new game, not a mod, so we have to buy it to play it (or subscribe to Game Pass). It has been rumoured for a while.
This is a remake (according to the leaked box art it is a "remaster") on Unreal Engine 5 from Virtuous studio (they are also currently making Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater). The updated Oblivion is rumored to be released next week, right after the announcement. There are more screenshots, but I did not want to spam them, some can be found at the link that I attached in the description.
Oh, I would love to be able to use existing mods with it. I just don't want to get my hopes up prematurely. From what I read, it isn't just the graphics that's changed. They also changed some of the game mechanics.
Yea that seems to be the case and i feel the same and keeping my fingers crossed about mods. I'd hate not to be able to play KOTN:R but excited for new modding potential for a game I know-ish
I still love original Oblivion the best, modded or unmodded. Don't get me wrong, this looks cool, but I just feel sorry for the team behind ''Skyblivion''. All that hard work wasted it seems 😥
Well I'm unimpressed. After two decades I would think there would be only improvements. Why the "remaster" looks so washed out and color-less? And why the spriggan is full wood? Unbelievable, it's like the developers decided to deliberately make the game unfaithful and un-lore-friendly as possible.
But hey guess that's the reason we got mods right? To fix the mistakes they made. This is a disgusting version of Oblivion, and I like remasters/remakes to be their own version while we still have the originals, but this goes against what Oblivion is. Will have to see when it get released, oh and they are doing the horse armor dlc bs again, at least that's one thing original they got going.

By the way, colors look less saturated, "brownish" in a Skyrim way, or is it just my own impression?
That being said that looks great I'm happy to see it.
