About this image
Second one.
I'd like to ask you guys here a little question:
Are you using self shadows? I deactivated them today, but I really wasn't satisfied with the results. So yeah, these ones have activated self-shadows again.

Is that armor on the blue girl custom or can it be found on the Nexus?
Cheers!
Thanks for your answers, I'll experiment a bit with self shadows (and Halos method).
Nice shot!
I do not use self shadows, but sometimes I contemplate trying them out. It always tends to look too dark though, like a blackened, pizelly sheet. I dunno how you cats do it.
Anyway, super duper cute shot. They both have wonderfully unique expressions and body language, and that really makes a shot great.
Very nice shot!
I use self-shadows and just carefully smooth the edges. In some cases it comes out looking fine. In some cases, the shadows take on an underwater look. As it's prolly well known, I use self-shadows on all of my shots. Some shadows don't need to be tweaked while others do. It's all about finding the technique that fits you the best. XD
My advantage here is I know little about the technical aspect of scenes...so can just sit here drinking the image in and then hopefully doing it justice with a comment..erm..in this case a very beautiful scene with your two characters in it...stating the obvious perhaps but I do find this scene simply fascinating..
@Godofallbeauties
Well, that is the longest Tesnexus comment on Tesnexus
Pretty impressive when I read it. Here, I give you a Kudos for your impressive comment. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Godofallbeauties
I love how Destara's blue hair and skin seem to glow in the dying daylight. It's more visible in this shot than in the last one you've posted.
Self shadows, something I had to think about much lately, too (Thanks again to Halofarm for his advice). I already rambled on my personal insights on one of my pictures in the supporter gallery, so I'll try to keep it short: With self shadows activated, the results are all but smooth, on the other hand, with self shadows off, especially the face, neck and collar bone area lose their... depth (I don't know a better word to describe it). After neither the first nor the second method works perfect on its own, why not using both together? Double shooting your pictures- one shot with self shadows off, one with them activated- allows you to overlay them and use layer masks to smooth out the hard edges you get without destroying the details that are laying underneath. The results may not be perfect (I don't consider myself to be a great artist anyway- there are dozens out there who do better), but that's what I did the last few days after my little talk with Halo.
Edit: I see, I was too slow- hey Halo
Nope, I prefer less shadows to big three layered jaggy shadows on my shots.
I remember when I used to use self-shadows and all my shots looked like crap.
If they work for you, that's good, but not for me.
