Description
===========
A set of spells which give you the ability to enchant items yourself without an enchanting altar. Based off of Opaj's Enchanting Skill mod with MAJOR modifications.

V2.0 Comes as a complete overhaul with bugfixes.

Details
=======
This is a major modification of Opaj's Enchanting Skill mod ( http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=13433 ). Based off of your mysticsm skill level, you are granted new spells which allow you to create enchantments (Apprentice) and combine multiple enchantments onto a single object (Journeyman). My modifications include two new spells that allow you to increase the maximum charges on your weapons (Expert), and to transfer the enchantment from one item to another (Master). Additionally, I've removed the chance of failure from Opaj's original enchanting spell, made it so the enchanting spell uses soul gems, and I've added a cost to combine enchantments. As with Opaj's original, the power of an enchantment is determined by your mysticism skill - a higher skill level means more powerful enchantments.

The Enchanting spell is pretty basic - it pops up an enchanting menu. It does make some temporary alterations to the game settings governing the maximum power enchantments can have and to the total power of the enchantment based off of your mysticism skill, which allows a more skilled character to make more powerful enchantments. A 50 skill gives you a standard enchantment like you would get at an altar. Lower is less powerful, higher is more powerful. You can enchant an "enchanting essence" which can be used only by the combine spell. All modified game settings are restored at the end of the spell.

The Combine Enchantments spell allows you to transfer an enchantment from an essence and move it to another enchanted item - for up to 4 fully custom enchantments on a single item. The essence is lost when used. My changes to this include a cost of welkynd stones - 1 stone per essence being combined. My modifications also include the ability to transfer enchantments to weapons as well as armor and clothing. I also changed the "distribution" mechanism that Opaj had that kept the total power of an item the same no matter how many enchantments were added - now the combined enchantments' powers are addative. This means that a weapon enchantment of 30 fire damage will not be reduced to 15 when combined with another enchantment - HOWEVER the total uses on weapons are reduced due to the higher power.

The Charge spell allows you to spend varla stones to increase the maximum charges on your weapons. So a weapon with 1200/1200 charges can be increased, depending on the varla stones spent, to 2400/2400 or more. Any number of soul gems can be used at once and will have a additive result. There is no limit configured to how many charges you can add. The number of charges added is directly dependent upon your mysticism skill. The equation is: charges = skill * 5.

The transfer spell is by far the most powerful. The destination object can be ANY item, and the new enchantment will ADD to the current enchantment. So if you take a +1 to sneak enchantment and transfer it to an item with +2 to sneak, the final item will have +3 to sneak. There is no limit to the number of enchantments that an item can have transferred to it, so this can make for some incredibly powerful items. It costs one varla stone to transfer enchantments from one item to another. This can also be used to enchant arrows - enchant any weapon (including an essence) and then transfer the enchantment with a stack of arrows as the destination.

For all of the spells with stone requirements, you can use extra stones and the unused stones will be returned to your inventory. The exception is the charge spell which uses all the varla stones and adds additional charges for each stone.

If anyone preferred v1, I'll be leaving it up on Nexus.

Incompatibility
===============
Due to the cost of varla stones and welkynd stones for some of the spells, this mod is completely incompatible with my Varla Enchanting mod and any other mods that might replace varla and welkynd stones in your inventory with fake versions.

At present I am aware of no other compatibility issues.

Known Issues or Bugs
====================
V1 had some really nasty bugs in it - to the point that it really didn't work at all. I'd say my bad, but a great deal of that buggy code was leftover from Opaj ;)
v2 completely overhauls the entire system and should be relatively bug free. But if you find any bugs, report them asap.

I've made sure to check that changed items are cloned forms, so they should stay around through save games. I've removed the code that was causing issues with tokens.

History

v2.0 Second release - complete overhaul and bugfixes
