What is this mod?
------------------------
While playing the Mod "Adash: City of Magic" i noticed that the video cutscenes have not been translated yet, and while most of the information can be gleaned from NPCs and books during play, it just felt incomplete to me. So i set out to learn the tools needed to do the translations and subtitles myself. Sadly real life interferred, so it took quite a while to finish it all up.

Then i noticed that the bink video player crops the videos (or at least it does so when they play during Oblivion) and i had to redo it all again since the subtitles got cut off... Ah well, lessons learned.

There are two downloads available here from me, named AdashFSubbed and AdashMSubbed. Since the original German uses male pronouns only, but many like to play as female characters as well i decided to split the subtitles into male and female versions (instead of doing a gender neutral one, which just sounds clumsy). You only need to download ONE version depending on which gender you want to play as.

As for the translations themselves: I decided to stay as close to the original German as possible so as to not lose the original intent of the sentences. No tools beside my own knowledge of both languages were used. I found the German to be somewhat badly constructed, using words i would not have chosen in many instances, so the translations will reflect the less than ideal structure. To keep the original flavor intact i did NOT simplify or change structure. This was a conscious decision since i did not want to be an editor, simply a translator. There are one or two passages which have been shortened or changed so they fit into the subtitles, all others were kept as close as possible.

As an added bonus, while playtesting i noticed that the book "Anurs Commandments" also was not translated yet, so i have included a small .esp with that. It is fully mergable into a bashed patch so you will not lose a slot. If you decide not to merge, remember to load it AFTER "LordKain_Adash_World.esp", but really it does not matter where after, since all it does is modify that one book. The esp is cleaned :)

If you notice any mistakes or have corrections/suggestions, don't be shy. I do not claim to be perfect in either language and this is meant more as a "closing the gap" project, which took much longer than it should have. Hopefully it will give some of you a little but of extra enjoyment for this excellent mod.

(un-)INSTALLATION:
--------------------------
As for installing the video files, the archives are usable with the Bash Installer tool, however you should make a backup of your "\data\videos\" folder, just in case (you could always reinstall your original Adash files if anything goes wrong). If you do a manual install, simply unpack the whole 7z into your "oblivion\data\" folder and let it overwrite. You do not need to activate anything as this mod is not .esp dependable (except of course if you also want the book translated, then you obviously have to activate "AdashComAnur.esp") As for uninstalling, copy over the video folder from your Adash download. Done.

NOTES
---------
* I have tried for several months to get into contact with LordKain via his website, email, PM here and even Forum here. I did not get an official answer from anybody if i was even allowed to do what i did. Considering that my contributions are more of an add on however, i decided to nevertheless publish them. It took way too long already since i promised to do the subtitles early this year. So i hope i am not stepping on any toes here as i sincerely tried to "go through the proper channels". Please contact me if i did anything wrong!
