Resets combat when you die to avoid the trouble of having to exit and reload the game.

In real life or in Tamriel, there's always going to be a time when we need a little security against certain death, especially when reloading results in a CTD requiring you to restart the entire game.
Introducing the death proof system. When you take fatal damage, every actor that is alive will freeze in place, have their health completely restored and become invincible. You will automatically put away your weapon and have your health restored. At this point you are free to move around, reposition yourself, change gear etc, and when you are ready to fight again, simply draw your weapon, everyone will regain movement and the fight begins again.
You can use it as an exploit and focus on killing one enemy at a time, but I think of it as life insurance, a quality of life mod that gives you a fluid, continuous game play. It is especially fun with mods that increases difficulties.
In terms of customization, the item "Death Reset Switch" will be added to your inventory. Read it for the option to turn the death proof system on or off. By default, this will be on everytime you restart and load into your game.
