Daywalker - The Vampire Saga

Promo Blurb
_________________________
The smell of rotting flesh, the tempered lighting, vampires hanging from the ceiling in chains, it all seemed like a blur. The lich had me chained to the table in a ceremonial fashion. Words gurgled up as he obsessively repeated, "this one will be different, this one will be the one." Spotty recollections that would only make sense later when I awoke as a...Daywalker.

Play as a vampire who walks in the sun, unless they are completely starved, and who is stronger when fed.

Description
_________________________
The order rescued me from the lich's chambers, certain I was the same brethren that lived among them since I could remember. That next morning I awoke as something different. The last of the order stood before me trembling as the blood of his brothers moved in waves at his feet. Words like "it can not be" and "how is this possible" rang in my ears, as the sunlight glistened against the whites of my fangs before they sank into his neck.

Go forth and live as a vampire who can walk in the sun, a new breed that will strike fear into the hearts of men. Let us experience the journey together, your saga as a ....Daywalker.

Paying Homage
____________________
This mod is based off an old mod called VMCS Vampire Mod by vcaine. All endorsements and praise should be funneled to them. I searched long and hard for a reverse vampire system that actually played nicely with a lot of other mods. The bigger vampire mods had scripts that changed things like leveling and spells, etc, which always seem to have issue with those sorts of mods when combined. This one is light, works well with additional vampire mods (favorites listed below,) simple to understand, and is a lot of fun, not a chore.

The issue I had with the original mod was with the sun damage portion. Although the author tempered it some, at least allowing you time to take cover, it still interfered with game play. I like a good sun damage system, if the world was built for it, and it is my opinion that Oblivion was never really meant for vampire life beyond a couple of driven quests and addition enemy fodder, no world building, clans, etc, like Skyrim, and especially with Dawnguard added. Other smaller issues were typos in the scripts making it appear you went from Vampire (25) to Vampire (75) when you were actually on Vampire (50) stage. It was confusing. Also, the mod was dirty and included a lot of redundant scripts. I made my changes and cleaned the mod. So now I leave it in your hands, go forth and live, again.

Life As A Daywalker
__________________________
The mod is simple, it is basically the reverse of the vanilla vampire system, which means after you feed you are the strongest (Vampire (25)) and each day you do not feed, your abilities lessen. The forth day I believe you are at the last stage of Vampirism (Vampire (100).) The daywalker can walk in sun without issue for the first three days/stages without feeding, the last stage he will take a small amount of damage. It appears your maker was not 100% affective in removing all the sun damage traits.

You will get the standard vanilla vampire powers, embrace darkness, etc., and vanilla abilities/resistances and so forth, and two more additional vampire spells are added; a lesser vampire bite spell and a greater bite spell. These will allow you to feed on awake people (best to use charm on merchants and the like) or enemies in combat. Be warned, the latter should only be used on a victim/enemy who is alone, as it will kill your victim leaving your vampire in a state of vampiric orgasmic euphoria and paralysed for several seconds. Life taking mixed with blood letting is overwhelming for a vampire. You will also receive the ability to breath under water permanently, as vampires do not breath themselves, also handy if caught in the sun during the late stage.

This system leaves in the standard vampire face changes (ugly) as they progress without feeding. See my list of recommended mods below to change this to a more pleasant looking process. I suggest you find a good human blood seller or feed, often ..and the day will be yours to command.

Installation
___________________
You should be fine installing this mod with a fresh start or mid-play, as long as you are not a vampire. You can use a mod manager or place the files into your game's 'Data' folder and activate. Use Loot to order the mod.

Uninstalling
___________________
Recommend that if you are a vampire, you do the cure quest, save, uninstall this mod while standing in a building, save again, load new save, and save again. That should clear out this system from your game save.

Also, the original author did not properly code the removal of the two extra vamp spells and the permanent water breathing ability. You can either enjoy the water-breathing aspect and ignore the spells or open up the mod in Tes4edit, find the first two digits of the 8 digit IDs being used in this mod (changes with each install) and then in game open the console command (hit the ~ key) and type in the following, replacing your two digits found above for the 'XX', and hitting enter key after each line;

player.removespell XX0016B2
player.removespell XX0047B3
player.removespell XX0047B6

Hit the ~ key again to close and do a save. That should remove the last bits of this mod.

Recommended Compatible Vampire Mods
_________________________
This is why I like this simple vampire system, besides the daywalking and not being intrusive on other game scripted portions, you get to pick and choose your extra vampire whatevers. As always, use LOOT after installing these mods. Here are some that I have used and highly recommend;

- Vampire Hunters Sight Toggle by kynetarse, no more timed spell. It is now cast and recast as a toggle switch.
- Vampire Race Disable by scanti, no more face aging/vamp skin/face ugliness
- Vampire Morphs by scanti, 4 different options for vamps. I use the 'Fangs' version which gives your vamp the Underworld piercing blue eyes and fangs.
- Vampire Vision Fix by Maryoku - removes the games vampire vision brightness during the daytime, great mod for day walker vamps.
- Vampire Hunter - Slayer Edition by kandelai (that's me!) - shamelessly plugging my own mod, but it works well with this one. Tired of being a vamp and don't want to give up the power of playing one? Why not become Buffy The..., errrr..I mean a Vampire Hunter? Now you can.
- Abandoned Monastery Vampire Haven by Haravin - One of the best vamp nests in regards to atmosphere, includes your own cattle and a protector that guards the graveyard outside. Located on the outside of the Imperial City by the Mage's college. Love this one!
- Maigrets Vampire Bats by Maigrets - summon some winged friends to annoy your enemies, plus bats...just cool. Not sure if its fully compatible with CM_Parterns mod, may have issues.
- Summon The Rats by Dimensionlord1 - Always on my install list regardless. It is a cool summons, and powerful. These rats are ferocious and fit into some of the vampire commanding vermin lore. Plus they are just so cute!
- Portable Coffin by wintermuteai1 - Handy when you need to sleep, different coffin options available.
- Apachii Heroes Store by apachii - you will find all your vampire apparel, weapons, accessories and training under one roof here, always a must have in my mod list.
- UFF-RM Black Exnem Warrior Armor by Luchaire - awesome looking armor, works well with the Capes and Cloak mod, very dark and perfect for a vampire. If playing a male character, you don't need the Fantasy Figures Female Body requirement, just Roberts Male Body mod.
- Serentin Vampire Armors by StarX - You will need to get these armors off of TES Alliance, just google them. Really well done, I mix and match pieces with the UFF-RM armors.
- Slof's Nexon Armoury Skimpy Version - Has both skimpy and non-skimpy armour and includes a lot of nifty weapons and such. Does not work with Better Cities, as it places the container in The Market area and is stuck in a wall, use TCL command if you do.
- Capes and cloaks by someone1074 - always in my mod lists, works with a variety of armors and/or robes, hoods and capes in a variety of colors (red and black ones for Vamps!)
- Supreme Magicka Update by Strategy Master - One of favorite magic mods and a lesser intrusive one, really well done. Don't forget to also grab Supreme Magica Enchant Unlock mod as well for enchanting needs. I keep the SMU mod at the bottom of my load list. This mod is especially great for vampires with spells like;
..Manipulate Weather Power
..Necromancy reanimation
..Summon skinned hounds
..Telekinesis spells
..Detect Life color codes enemies
..Levitation
..Night Eye now auto stops/starts depending on lighting, and more.

Incompatibility Mods

Any mod touching the Vampirescript itself is probably going to have issues with this mod, that includes many of the larger vampire mods like Unholy Darkness, Revolution, LTD-Vamps, etc. Also there are a few I have found that don't even tell you they change these scripts, so stay clear of the following...
- Necromancer-Vampire Companions and Homes by iamnone - cool mod, well done, but it changes a lot of the vamp scripts, kind of has its own hidden vamp system changes that is not revealed in the description or read me. Avoid!
- Vampire Guild on APKmods - again, cool idea, but it messes with factions. The vampires were not attacking me before I even became a vampire. Also kind of has its own script changes and may interfere with this mods scripts.
