I have made many simple mods that add houses or custom items, but this is the first mod that I thought other people would find useful. This was a very tedious mod and I hope I may save others some time.
I love Oblivion, but there was one thing I wanted to change, the caps set for different spells (ex. Requires Alteration Skill 25 to cast this spell). Now in any other game I could see where this is necessary, but not in Oblivion. Oblivion already has a great system, the less experience in a skill the more magika it cost to cast a spell ruled by that skill. That system alone is perfect. The lower level you are the less magika you will have, and that alone will prevent you from casting Apprentice and higher spells. As you raise levels, you will gain more magika and will be able to cast more spells in disciplines you are not skilled in, but the toll will be greater. The level caps are just a nuisance to me, so I made this mode to take them out. I hated being level 73 and not being able to cast a simple “Open Average Lock,” because I didn’t have 25 or higher in Alteration. Granted, the magika cost will be higher for things you do not have higher levels in, and most of your magika will me tapped, but I think that is a little more realistic.
NOTE: This is my first publicly released mod, I have been using it for almost 2 months now without a problem. However, I’m sure that there are more then enough bugs and I’m sure that they will arise in the most inconvenient time, so be cautious with this mod, I would consider this a beta. I origially made this mod by editing each spell one by one.
Rilund over at http://tessource.net/ suggested that I only
change the game propeties to remove the requirments. This
advice was to good to pass up, for it improves capatability with
other people's mods.
