Adding Item Tags for Better Sorting

Currently in beta, as I’m adding tags in my limited free time.

I’ve always disliked the game's category system, especially the lack of info on soul gem contents unless sorted by price. With no better UI options, adding sorting tags seemed like the best solution.

!! theres a bug where its overwritting the remaster changes, use it maybe for managamente but then disable, at leastast until fixed !!

I’m adapting the sorting system used in mods for Skyrim and Fallout 4 to add item tags for better organization and sorting within the game.

This is still in beta, and I’m adding tags as time permits, so progress is ongoing.

The idea behind this system is to append tags before item names and categorize items by type at the end. For example, a Common Soul Gem would be renamed to “[Gem] Common Soul Gem (Lesser)”. This method achieves two main goals:

  • Grouping Similar Items: By adding the [Gem] tag before the name, all soul gems, regardless of their specific type, will be grouped together when sorted alphabetically. This eliminates the frustration of having to scroll around to find all soul gems.
  • Clear Identification: The addition of (Lesser)* at the end of the item name provides instant clarity about the soul gem’s type. You no longer have to sort by price or trial and error to know which soul gem is filled with what type of soul.

* There's still a bug where filled soul gems appear "empty"

This system is designed to improve usability within the game, especially in the absence of a better UI, and to make it easier to find and manage items based on their type and content.

I'll check the compatibility with existing mods too once the majority of tags are done, this is my first mod so it takes time.

Installation Instructions:

Copy the RauvensSortableTags.esp file to your Oblivion Remastered installation directory: SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Oblivion Remastered\OblivionRemastered\Content\Dev\ObvData\Data.
Then, append "RauvensSortableTags.esp" to the end of the Plugins.txt file located in the same directory, at the end so it can write the tag over other mods that affect items like weight and value
