About this mod
Changes the game's timescale on the fly depending (mostly) on how far the player is traveling.
- Permissions and credits
Oblivion's default timescale is set at 30, which means days last 48 irl minutes. I find that a little too short when I'm just walking around a town, or exploring a dungeon for example.
However, if I set the timescale at a flat 8, I feel like the world is a little small when riding from one town to another - I do like feeling like it took me half a day to go visit another city.
So this mod dynamically adjusts timescale between 10 and 36 depending on how far the player has moved over the last 25 seconds. It also sets the timescale to 8 when the player is in an Interior cell (aka buildings and dungeons).
Install:
- Unzip the file in your "\OblivionRemastered\Content\Dev\ObvData\Data" folder
- Add the following line to the bottom of the Plugins.txt file located in that folder
DynamicTimescale.esp
Uninstall:
- Delete the "DynamicTimescale.esp" file
- Delete the "DynamicTimescale.esp" line in your Plugins.txt file
- Once in-game, open the console and type the following command
set timescale to 30
This should be compatible with most other mods and have a minimal performance impact; however, changing the timescale in Elder Scrolls (and Fallout) games can sometimes lead to some wonkiness with quests and NPC behavior. I also haven't had the time to fully test it yet, so don't hesitate to comment on any issues you encounter.
