About this mod
Safe Containers adds an asterisk (*) to container hover info so it is easier to tell which containers are safe to store items inside.

Purpose:
To make it easier for a player to safely store items in the field, or take over their own homes, for roleplay reasons. Don't want that fancy DLC home when you can have your own cave or live in the home of someone who won't be needing their home anymore, now you can. Maybe you'd just like to find a safe spot to store stuff in your guild hall? You can do it now. Also, I wanted to save players from bad guides. Some guides say all sacks are safe. They are not. This way you can tell which are safe and which are not.
Use:
To use, simply hover over any containers like you normally would. Safe containers will have an asterisk (*) at the beginning of the description. If they are marked safe, you should be able to store items safely within that container with some caveats.
Caveats:
- This mod was made by adding the tag (*) to any container that did not have the respawns flag and didn't have a script referenced in the container record. That doesn't mean any container marked "safe" is absolutely safe. It might be in an area that becomes unavailable later. A quest might redraw the area, removing a container and replacing it with another. There might be an external quest that forces the contents to respawn, etc.. So consider the context of the entire area you decide to settle, don't go solely by the tag.
- This mod will not change ownership, so keep that in mind if storing items in a container owned by an NPC. Anything you take out later will be marked stolen, so only store in non-red containers.
- This mod will conflict with any other mod that alters container records.
- Do not Bash, Smash, or otherwise combine this mod with others. If you combine with a mod that adds the respawn flag, then the asterisk will mislead you. Don't do it.
- Place this mod high in your load order, that way if a mod does conflict with it, the other mod will overwrite. You'll probably still end up with a lot of "safe" storage even if another mod repurposes many of your containers.
- That darn [NL] tag...sorry, I don't know how to remove it. That is the only thing keeping this from being version 1.0.
Installation:
- Choose one Main File.
- Install via Vortex or M02 directly into your steamapps\common\Oblivion Remastered\OblivionRemastered\Content\Dev\ObvData\Data folder.
- Place standard Safe Containers.esp high in the load order in case of conflicts. This will have any other mod overwrite this one. If you are using the Safe Containers - Ascension.esp, place that one below Ascension.esp.
- If the game crashes immediately after installing this, check your Load Order tab in Vortex. It has bugged out and spontaneously changed the load order for some users. It is much easier to hit the reset load order button than the alternative, like verifying game files.
- To remove the [NL] tag, install https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivionremastered/mods/473. Not required, but will make the mod more immersive until I learn how to fix the mod so it works without it.
