This article is effectively a copy of the Known Issues section that can be found in the documentation.

Always check with this page or the documentation before posting a Bug Report to verify if it's something we're aware of, are working on, or if there are workarounds if necessary.

This page also lists some common issues caused by the quirks of emulation, even if there's nothing we can really do about those.

Compass' upcoming major updates are : 2.0.5.02.0.6.02.1.0.0.

Wild Pokemon not spawning after a few minutes?

This is not an issue caused by Compass.
It is an emulator specific issue.

Turn "Expanded DRAM", "Expanded memory hack", "6GB RAM", "Expanded RAM" option off.
It may be labeled something different for you.

This is not something we will walk you through.
Contact your software provider for assistance or play on official hardware as is recommended.

Pokédex Milestone Crash

Version 2.0.5.0 includes a workaround for a Milestone fix, but it was confirmed that another similar issue persists. Players who have completed the DLC Epilogue content may not be able to open their Pokédex Milestone screens, as it will crash.

I could not replicate this issue at all with any save that did not have the Epilogue completed, but was able to confirm it on those.

For now, get all your rewards before completing the Epilogue, or just avoid pressing X to open this window.

We’ll be looking into replacing the Milestone system to resolve this in version 2.0.6.0 or 2.1.0.0.

Alcremie Has All Sweets

It’s adorable, right?

It really is. Unfortunately, it’s not supposed to be this way.

Fixed in 2.0.6.0

Penny's Missing Dialogue

In Penny’s dorm room, after completing the DLC2 Epilogue, Penny’s text line is empty.

This will be resolved in version 2.0.6.0.

Cannot Obtain all Pokémon

A handful of Pokémon can be transferred into Scarlet and Violet from HOME that Compass does not provide acquisition methods for.

This will be resolved in, at latest, version 2.1.0.0.

Blueberry Pokédex Slightly Off

The Pokédex displays 269 entries, but only 266 seen or captured, when completed.

This will be resolved in, at latest, version 2.1.0.0.

Pokédex Diploma, Shiny Charm, and Milestone Reward Issues

Because of the DLC updates changing the way we went about our changes to the final Pokédex completion code, it is currently not entirely functional in all circumstances. The milestone system and the acquisition of the Shiny Charm are also tied together with this.

This will be resolved in version 2.1.0.0.

Can't Picnic from Mount or Quite-so-Anywhere

The functionality for this feature will have to be rewritten, and is currently disabled. You cannot start a picnic from your mount, or in Area Zero.

This will be resolved in version 2.0.6.0.

Crashing at the Start of Battles

This is a vanilla issue that becomes more apparent in Compass, and is caused by having a single Pokémon when getting into a Doubles battle.

The only Doubles battles in vanilla are in the Montenevera Gym — and it prevents the player from participating without two Pokémon. In Compass, however, approximately 25-30% of all trainer battles are doubles, so you can run into many doubles battles, both in story events, and in the wild.

Thankfully, with Indigo Disk, they did institute a check for wild battles that will ensure that you have at least two battle-ready Pokémon available before starting up the fight with the trainer. We had a nearly-identical feature written which we were planning on implementing if the DLC did not include something like this, but we don’t have to anymore~

However : This check only applies to wild encounters, and not to event encounters. Those have to be handled entirely separately, on a case-by-case basis, and will be something that we have to implement for every event-based fight (such as against rivals, Victory Road, Starfall Street fights, etc).

We will have these preventative fixes implemented in version 2.1.0.0.

Evolution not Triggering Correctly / Getting Stuck / Soft-locked

This is not an issue caused by Compass.

This issue primarily affects players who are using Yuzu, but it has been known to happen rarely for Ryujinx players as well. This also affects vanilla players on official hardware, but it’s mostly seen by players using Yuzu.

What happens is the game gets “stuck” during the startup of the evolution process, and soft-locks. During this time, you can still move the camera, but cannot do anything other than reset your game.

This is thankfully generally not deterministic, so by resetting the game, you should be able to evolve properly. Sometimes, you may have to change zones (such as going into Mesagoza or Area Zero) and evolve it there.

If you are running into this issue consistently while using Yuzu, ensure that you are using the latest version of the emulator, or consider moving off to Ryujinx or playing on the Switch hardware instead. You can easily export your save from Yuzu and transfer it into Ryujinx, so you do not need to restart and lose your progress.

Ensure that you are not using any mods that conflict with Compass, and disable all IV/EV/level-related and just in general Pokémon-related cheats. Your game version needs to match the required version of Compass.

Gym Minigame Hanging / Crashing

This is not an issue caused by Compass.

This is another issue that primarily affects Yuzu players — Yuzu is known to have a number of issues when playing Scarlet and Violet, and this is one that can affect players, with or without any mods installed.

The workaround is to use the recommended emulator, Ryujinx, or official hardware.

(You can migrate your save from Yuzu to Ryujinx or your Switch, so you won’t lose your progress.)
