Beautiful. For those who keep crashing, try downloading the latest version of Reshade. I was using 6.0.1 and it would crash during the intro video, but it did work when I downloaded and used 6.4.1. If you have already activated an earlier version, you can uninstall it from the game by opening the setup program again, selecting the game and settings you chose, then choosing "uninstall" instead of "install" towards the end.
Additionally, reshade would not even appear when I chose whatever "vvis" file the instructions said to install it to. I then uninstalled it from there and instead installed it directly to portal2.exe, and it began working.
Hope this helps anyone having problems with this! It's definitely worth the hastle. This is one of the best non-ray-tracing Reshade presets I have ever seen. I might even try it on other games to see if it looks good on them too!
Can't find the preset after uninstalling and reinstalling Portal 2 and Reshade multiple times after following directions. I had to purge the files and it still didn't work after a clean wipe. Selected the correct program and the preset is simply not there. Some help would be great.
I installed Reshade to vvis.exe
Pasted Reshade.ini and Aperture.ini into the game directory
Put the .png into reshade-textures\Textures\
I HAVE NO CLUE WHAT IS GOING ON AND I AM SLOWLY LOSING IT BECAUSE I'VE DONE THIS 5 TIMES ALREADY!!!
EDIT: I FIGURED IT OUT!!! It took me to the bin folder when I wanted to select a preset from the game directory.
I have tinkered around with Reshade ABUNCH with my other games, but whenever I click Home nothing happens? I'm really stupid so please someone help me.
Anyone having luck installing this on Steam Deck? To run the Reshader program, I had to follow this guide and yet even after rebinding the Home button key to various buttons on my Deck and my Steam Controller, I still can't open the Reshade menu. I followed the Aperture Reshade install directions overall but found that the way I installed the Reshade "app" set the "ReShade_shaders" parent folder (which contains the reshade-shaders folder [which is where you place the Filmlut.png within the Textures folder] file within the /home/deck/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Portal 2/ rather than in the bin folder within the Portal 2 folder...I wonder if that has anything to do with being unable to open the Reshade menu and enable Aperture Reshade. I spent a long time on this project and would love some help!
For anyone experiencing issues where they can't see any shaders when they open the home menu. I've finally found a fix. If you go to the settings tab in Reshade, there is an "effects path" and a "textures path" so you basically have to redirect the paths to ...\Portal 2\bin\reshade-shaders and then redirect it to their respective folders. It fixed it for me.

Is that how it is?
As instructed by the tutorial I selected all the effects but didn't select any add-ons, selected the Aperture preset and placed the image in the correct place. I also chose the vvis.exe. And I got these errors.
Is this correct? Is there something I did wrong?
