About this mod
Adds nearly 800 real-world railroad-owned, railcar pooling corporation-owned, and privately-owned reporting marks which appear on newly spawned cars at interchange, prototypical to approximately 1940.

To make this mod, I pulled up the list of active reporting marks from the American Association of Railroads, as well as the list of reporting marks on Wikipedia, and checked to see if the reporting mark belonged to a railroad, railcar leasing company (GATX, TILX, UTLX, etc.), or other private company that at least existed in 1940, or, in the case of railroads, had become fallen flags by the 1920s. Most of these companies had existed since the early 20s or 30s, and most of the railroads in this list had existed well prior to that.
I made three versions of this mod: one that contains 490 reporting marks prototypical for railroads only, one that contains 542 reporting marks for both railroads and railcar leasing companies, and the full version list that contains all 856, to maintain different levels of prototypicality. This is to avoid players having to deal with private reporting marks appearing on an inaccurate car- in example, a private reporting mark only ever seen on a reefer car, like NWX, in real life appearing on a tank car or hopper car. I did include these industry-specific reporting marks in the full version, for those of you who just want variety in your reporting marks, and don't mind that they may more often not look prototypical.
To backup the vanilla reporting marks, copy 'ReportingMarks.txt' in Railroader/Railroader_Data/Streaming Assets, and put it in a backup folder.
To install the mod, all you need to do is put 'ReportingMarks.txt' in your Railroader/Railroader_Data/Streaming Assets folder. Replace the file already in the folder when prompted.
If you don't want the mod anymore, simply copy the backup of your original text file from your backup folder to the same location.
Known Issues:
Every time the game is updated, even for small updates, the 'ReportingMarks.txt' file is reverted to the original. You will need to keep a copy of the mod file (or download it again if you lost it) somewhere outside the game folder, and reinstall the mod after an update, before your interchange is served again.
Most unfortunately, reporting marks in this game are still, from what I can tell completely random. If you use the STILL HIGHLY RECOMMENDED "Prototypical Repaints for Vanilla Freight Cars" by mod author RouteOfTheWhippet, as well as any other such mod that adds prototypical liveries, the liveries and reporting marks may likely not be congruent- i.e., a car with an Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe livery will likely not have 'ATSF' as its reporting mark. Please bear this in mind before installing and testing.
If you find any inaccuracies with reporting marks that are too modern to be in this list, feel free to let me know with a source. You can also easily keep the offending reporting mark out of your game- simply search for it in the 'Reporting Marks.txt' and delete both the reporting mark and the line that contains the reporting mark. Inversely, if I didn't include a reporting mark you wanted to see in the game, it's simple to add it into the text file in a new line.
